Which probably would have happened if the credit crunch hadn't hit the fan. What is he meant to do, pick up a shovel himself?!Originally posted by red g View Postdidnt he promise to build a stadium that never happened?
Moores may have picked a couple of leveraged Americans (and Gillett was never rich enough in the first place) but that business model was all the rage; and if you think that is a crock look at the amount of debt loaded on our near neighbours that have just won their third Premiership title in a row.
I'll ask again; how was Moores to know that the credit crunch was about to hit?James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

he sold the club in summer 2007 and we were supposed to start building in a matter of weeks?Originally posted by Rich View PostWhich probably would have happened if the credit crunch hadn't hit the fan. What is he meant to do, pick up a shovel himself?!

Hence the Americans had a year and a half to start building before the credit crunch really hit. I for one would have made the odd stipulation into the contract regading building works etc.
Its an excuse now, it wasnt then._____________________________________

i have better things to dream about . here you goOriginally posted by Operation View PostNah, I think you dreamt it.
Corinthians
In 1999, Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst bought Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, a successful Brazilian club team. The club initially succeeded under the new ownership group by winning the FIFA Club World Cup Championship. Before the purchase of the club, the ownership group assured the fans that a new stadium was in development. This never materialized and after legal/financial troubles and partner infighting, Hicks retired from the company and the ownership group eventually sold Corinthians. The ownership group drew the fury of Corinthian's fans due to financial decisions, the introduction of corporate sponsors on the players' uniforms and the changing of the club's colors. The club was eventually sold and left in a worse position after they were relegated to a lower level league. Comparisons have been made between Hicks's Brazilian failure and his current troubles at Liverpool Football Club._____________________________________

Aye, no doubt he has form for this sort of cock up.
I liked, well no not liked, but laughed (then worried ) at the story of him bidding for a top player for his football or baseball team, who he then bought, only to find out later the nearest other bid was 70mill or so less, the word doh! springs to mind.
Famously, or rather infamously, he allowed himself to be talked into the biggest single contract for an athlete in history – a 10-year, $250m deal for the short-stop Alex Rodriguez. At the time, this was seen as a bold declaration of intent by the Rangers owner. Looking back, now that Rodriguez has long departed for the New York Yankees and details of the deals have been made public (the next highest bid for Rodriguez's service at the time was a reported $170m),Last edited by Vermilion; 19-06-09, 05:52 PM.

Thats laughable mate and so is every one else here saying what a great bloke he was dipping in to his own pocket. You miss the fairly large point that If he'd ran the club properly we wouldn't have needed him to put his own money in would we.Originally posted by murder_inc View PostSo after all the money that was spent through out the 90s and 00s and in some cases out of his own pocket, he's not allowed to make a bit of money from the sale of the club? ****in hell mate, do you go to work for free? If you sold your car that you dearly love would you also like to make a bit of profit from it or would you give it away for nothing?
He was still making money from the DIC deal and he absolutely deserved money for his shares, but he sold to the yanks for 8 million more.Nobody wouldve minded that if they were brilliant but they aren't and it was his job to research that fact before sellingLast edited by G; 19-06-09, 07:07 PM.

Yeah, he *lent* the club he inherited some money, that he inherited.Originally posted by Pedenj View PostThis is also a man that when times were hard dipped into his own pocket to allow Rafa to sign Kuyt.
What a guy!
The average fan spends the money they work hard for on the club, which to me is a far greater commitment. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
