I’m disappointed that he’s leaving but relieved that it’s now been sorted. Rafa wanted him out, Xabi wanted to go. £30m (about £14m more than we wanted, last year, from Juve). Real Madrid get a very good player. I think all parties have done well from the deal.

Best of luck Xabi and thank you very much for 5 excellent years. You’ve served us well, on and off the pitch.

    Time to move on.
    Another MASSIVE game

Not a holding midfielder or defensive, no. But central...yes. Or as far as i was aware, anyway.

It will absolutely sicken me to the pit of my stomach to see Xabi celebrating goals etc with Cristiano cunting Ronaldo
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Thought he played in Gerrard's position or as one of the 3, or at least is more suited to it. I'm probably wrong

Glad it is done. Now lets get 1 or two players in to make us stronger!

If we don't sign a BiG nAmE now, I'm going to throw all of my toys out of the pram, Rashid style.

I think he's more adept as a 'link' or 'in the hole' type of player than a holding midfielder, yeah. I'd still seek to bring him in if possible. He already is starting to look the part and his value will only increase. Excellent goalscoring record at club and international level.

If he doesnt do the job of replacing Alonso, he could do as a SG replacement

I'm not against the idea of replacing Alonso with a more attacking option.

I just hope that Rafa gets to spend the cash from this sale and its not used for next years interest payment.

AA is a Central midfielder, far more offensive than Alonso has ever been
