Maybe you were dropped after the 'first defeat' because you were woefully poor.

I think it's been proved since then that he was not the problem for our defeat. Yet like he says, he was the only one who was dropped. The we lost to Villa and Yossi was dropped.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostMaybe you were dropped after the 'first defeat' because you were woefully poor.
Can't see where Rafa gets the idea that the biggest problem with Liverpool is at left wing.
But Ryan can't moan. If he plays well he can't be dropped, well with Rafa that idea is wrong, shouldn't be dropped i should say. Playing an average or below par game is not good enough for a player on the side lines.
He really should just keep his ****ing mouth shut anyway.Forwards.......

He's been consistently poor and offerend nothing of note for ages. So i can see why he was the one dropped after Spurs.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI think it's been proved since then that he was not the problem for our defeat. The thing is it is the obvious place we can make alterations with a single assumption that Rafa feels Gerrard's most effective position is in attacking midfield rather than deeper.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI think it's been proved since then that he was not the problem for our defeat. Kuyt has proved to be very good and flexible on the right, while Yossi, Babel and Riera have proved excellent at times but not struck quite the right balance on the other side. In the same way that people were less willing to criticise Torres and Gerrard for their insipid performances this season than they were say Lucas because of past exploits the same goes for Babel compared to the other two.
It is pretty clear that Babel has a position to fight for and if he bought pace and a goal threat to the left he would probably get the opportunity to nail it down. Personally I think that he is the least suitable of the three options unless we make a bigger distinction between the roles of Lucas and Mascher in the middle allowing Lucas to link play higher up the pitch. The problem with that is that we become more exposed as our fullbacks push forward.
I'd be tempted to keep a consistent team and for me Yossi would get the vote on the left as a more flexible attacking play maker. It does however leave us less powerful and aerially effective than a choice of Riera."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I would go further and say that our squad is that rubbish there was only one position we could drop someone. It is ridiculous that we have three saleable assets on the left fighting for one position, yet only have Kuyt and El Zhar on the right.Originally posted by dww View PostThe thing is it is the obvious place we can make alterations with a single assumption that Rafa feels Gerrard's most effective position is in attacking midfield rather than deeper.

I must say I am very suprised that Rafa has kept Babel if he is not going to give him a chance to prove his worth. In fact as we have Yossi and Riera on the left I would say it was worthless keeping Babel unless he gives him a chance up front, because he obviously sees Babel behind Yossi and Riera in the pecking order.
I think Babel can be a good player for us, but on the evidence of how Rafa is going to use him this season, I think he would have been better of selling babel and Voronin and signing someone who he would consider playing.Forwards.......

What is he worth though? And will his value increase by keeping him on the bench?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWell yeah, but you still need people offering something close to what he's worth. No point giving the lad away.
I think the lad has talent but we either use him or get rid IMO.Forwards.......

I think we could potentially get around £8m for him.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostWhat is he worth though? And will his value increase by keeping him on the bench?

£16m if Peter Ridsdale was still at a big club.

I personally think he's a confidence player. If he lucked out and had a good game or cameo performance it could set him on the right track.Originally posted by Craig_H View Post
We wouldnt be able to return him now, he's not in the same saleable condition as when we bought him
I would say that for his personality he has the wrong manager. He needs building up and Rafa only tends to do that with Lucas, who we all know is "A good lad".Forwards.......

I must say that I, like Babel, thought he would get a chance to impress this season. He's had one game and now can't even make the bench. Rafa for me should have sold him unless he has some grand plan I am not privvy too.Forwards.......
