He'll come good, I still think he'll have a role to play this year.

I think it's unfair to question his workrate or attitude as I don't think there's a problem there at all. He seems like a decent young man from the little insight we have. To me it's obvious his confidence is shattered and he's putting a lot of pressure on himself before he even gets on the pitch.

I'm as disillusioned as anyone (and have been for a year nearly) with Babel but I don't like people laying into one of our players the way many are him.

Babel just doesn't fit in with the personel we have or the playing style, he might do well in other teams. I think he benefited greatly from having Alonso in the team because that meant he got the ball to his feet higher on the pitch. Giving Babel the ball around the halfway line is useless IMO, he needs to get it near the box so he just needs to take one sprint to shoot/cross.

He has pace and a good shot, so he is not totally lacking.

Why? He doesnt even try out there. Why should we support some prick that looks like he can't be arsed?

Fair enough not laying into a guy that isn't good enough...but is giving his all (Lucas). But Babel has talent, he just doesnt give a ****.

If he put himself somewhere useful then he would be fine. In the Spurs game there was one time when he came into the middle for a long ball and I thought - he's finally showing some initiative thats promising. However when he is deeper he needs to find room so that he can receive the ball and run at people (much like Yossi did when he came on). It should not be a problem for someone with pace to receive the ball deep as they can progress quickly, however it is not enough to stand somewhere and wait for the ball to come to you.

In particular with a player like Lucas you have to keep moving as he will less often look to put you through with a risky ball. You also have to be willing to go for the one two. Neither of which Babel looked interested in doing against Spurs. I take the point that a player like Alonso willing to spring him loose with a ball from afar should have suited him better but he was hardly sparkling last season.

We can play with him higher up the pitch but if he insists on effectively marking himself out of the game I don't see him making much of an impression there either.

I would like to see how faired with Alonso and without. But I feel his close control is not good enough so the only way for him to do any damage is running onto long passes like Alonso often provided him but he won't beat more than one defender.

I reckon we should have cut our losses on him since he just doesn't fit in as we usually don't get that much space in the third quarter but Rafa must see something.

I don't think his control is that bad. I can see where you are coming from though. I do feel though that if he could get his head round how to work in our system he has the physical and technical attributes to be good. It's just that he seems to lack the drive of Kuyt and the intelligence of Benayoun and ends up being a bit pointless.

I think we have the answer

                  Hip-hop for Anfield flop

LIVERPOOL forward Ryan Babel can't find the net but hopes to hit the top of the charts after teaming up with UK hip-hop artist Sway.

The Dutchman features on one track on Sway's new album The Signature LP 2.

"He's a nice guy and a sick rapper", said Sway. "The way he flips his flow is marvellous, man."
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

                    Bollocks.

I don't think the 'not try hard' comment is fair about Babel. He's maybe thick (there's a lot of people who are anyway) and is devoid of any footballing intelligence whatsoever but you can't fault him for not trying.

It just isn't happening for him and supporting him might be the best way to get him out of this rot.

He's the laziest player I've ever seen, he doesn't give a toss.

                        Babel's talents?

                        I've heard he's good with a souffle.

I dont think he doesn't not try, i think it's solely a confidence thing.
If he was ripping every full back in the country to shreds, setting up goals and scoring you'd see him on the ball and doing his stuff.
It's really sad that it's not working out for him, i just hope he has one of them games when everything goes for him and he's off and running.

Laughing with Arsenal players after throwing away our title chances, when every other player is looking totally distraught.
