WAs gonna make that point too- our "favourites" havent suffered. That is mainly due to application. Kuyt hardly suffered either did he? -maybe because of personal loss, but certinaly not cos of Rafa.

An excellent question! If he played well or showed any kind of interest then he would get more time on the pitch. He's had far too many opportunities to show everyone how poor his ability and attitude are for my liking. No player has a right to play, they must apply themselves when the opportunity arises. Who's place should he be given for a run of games? Riera? Benny? Gerrard ? Kuyt?
Hmmm tricky.
When he does get a chance I hope he's going to show us why he should depose one of the afore mentioned but unfortunately he rarely seems to show anything above the ordinary. Time after time he gets into space one on one ..."go on son go past him" ...nope straight into him and it's gone.
I keep wishing he'll suddenly show this hidden magic but it's just not happening, maybe age will improve his game through experience , I really hope so but it's that catch 22 situation he needs games but the team needs instant quality performances.
Maybe Rafa does have favourites, Lucas & Kuyt spring to mind but they both have Rafa's number one ethic at heart they both work their socks off for the team and it must be said Babel looks lazy, maybe not true but he looks it.Comment

RYAN BABEL feels let down by his manager at Anfield over a series of “broken promises.”
So let me just remind you of the words Babel himself uttered on the day he was unveiled at Liverpool two summers ago.
“It’s a great feeling to be compared to Thierry Henry and a goal for me to work hard every day to get to that level or to be even better.
“Henry was a big hero for me. I think I can have the same in England he had, but we will see in the years to come.
“I see myself as a fast player who likes to dribble and play beautiful football. I like combination football and I like to score goals.”
Babel’s Anfield career has been an exercise in frustration.
He is powerful, pacy, can shoot fiercely and accurately and is decent in the air as well

Dirk Kuyt believes Ryan Babel is happy at Liverpool and is backing him to become a first-team regular.
The Dutch winger was quoted on Wednesday as being open to the prospect of securing a loan switch to former club Ajax during the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old is said to have grown disillusioned at a lack of opportunities at Anfield, with his World Cup aspirations weighing heavy on his mind.
Babel was awarded a starting berth by Rafa Benitez for Liverpool's opening game of the 2009/10 campaign at Tottenham, but has fallen down the pecking order since then.
Fellow Reds forward Kuyt understands his countryman's frustration, but he believes his international team-mate is prepared to fight for a place on Merseyside.
"He loves to play games for Liverpool and he will do everything in his power to come back," Kuyt told Sky Sports News.
"He is happy at Liverpool but every player wants to play and that is his only concern, before the World Cup, that he has to play games.
"I'm sure that he wants to play for Liverpool and that he wants to play in games as soon as possible.
