Torres loses the ball too often by being out-muscled....we need to keep Gerrard well away from our own penalty area....I would have liked to seen Albert....and Xabi! Disappointing........

It's no excuse, but the manner in which the players conducted themselves, how little fight etc they showed llooks like they think the loss of Alonso plus the lack of new signings has cost us the league before we start. It's an opinion I share, but I'm not paid £millions to play football.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

And full of the tequila that I started throwing down my neck at half time to keep my dander up. Now I just have to find a cat and kick it.

Someone said it was like being back to the days of Roy Evans. Tonight it was like being back to the days of Houllier. Gerrard shouldering all the burden and trying to win the game on his own, because no one else was up to it.

He's fine in midfield if he has options around him. Tonight the options were below par and when he's not having a great game himself it must really frustrate.

Our players and manager will talk us up as usual, but they know that losing two games out of three is the death knell for a championship push, especially when teams like Chelsea look capable of gringding out win after win. The only reason we'll even look respectable is down to the Mancs and Arsenal taking points of each other next week. A win at Bolton and we'll look better off compared to those two.
                  Forwards.......

Far too early to push the panic button but a good win at Bolton and less of the moaning and individual errors is a must.
The difference is our rivals can play poorly and still win....

People thinking this can be turned around in a couple of games are mad. There is something wrong deeper in the team.

A totally gutless performance, and thats at home.

we have a right to be angry at this ****
                      Agreed

That performance alone shows how badly we miss Alonso and why we need a couple of world class players in the right positions to stand a chance of winning number 19

Come on you pair of fookin gutless yannks, put your hands in those pockets of yours and give Rafa some decent money to put things right ffs if not, fook, fook off and sell us to someone who cares and has the cash to invest propely in our famous club instead of draggin us down to your level you spinless fookers

                      Rant over

We should have had a penalty, Gerrard had about ten million shots on which a normal night one would have gone in. Friedel had a great game. It was one of those nights. But as I said, if you want to win the title you can't have nights like that.
It was just lethargic all round. Plenty of chances but players going through the motions. It reminded me of Marseille at home in the CL.

I thought Johnson had a good game. At least he was always positive, but he had no support.

Torres and Gerrard are being closed down far quicker and it is down to them to step up to the plate and improve their movement and control of the ball. Stand still in this league and you will get run over.

I have said this for a while - our football is just too static at times - too many players standing still. More movement is required to give the player in possession more options.

Hats off to GJ tonight though. What a start he has had to the season, pity the others (Pepe apart) haven't followed suit.

It's the lack of ****ing fight that pisses me off more than anything.
There's no ****ing excuse for it. All these people saying ah so what it's early days, people need to take a chill pill can go to **** for all i care. Two matches out of three this season we have been bloody dreadful and already we've lost the same amount of games as we did all last season.
People really should be more worried than they are. We'll finish 5th or 6th if we continue to play like this.

                              Like the mancs at Burnley?

                              Good one.
