Sotirios Kyrgiakos will play against Bolton

NEW signing Sotirios Kyrgiakos is set to make his Liverpool debut in Saturday's Premier League clash at Bolton.

The 30-year-old's registration didn't go through in time for Monday's 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Aston Villa but boss Rafa Benitez is expected to turn to the Greek international for the clash at the Reebok Stadium.

The giant 6ft 4ins defender, who cost £1.5million from AEK Athens, is ideally suited to facing Gary Megson's physical side and Benitez will be hoping he can help nullify the aerial threat of frontman Kevin Davies.

Benitez will be keeping a close eye on fellow centre-back Martin Skrtel in the build up to the weekend as the Slovak is still troubled by the cracked jaw he suffered at Spurs.

I would not be at all surprised if Carra was the one who made way for him.

Not a chance! He's our best defender and is undroppable.

          Our best defender is Agger.

No chance, that will never happen. When you need your team to stand up and be counted, you need Carragher in the ranks.

When is Daniel due back anyway?
For the love of god please let this be his last injury.

I disagree mate. Carra was and still is our best defender. Agger is a good complement though, as he's the better of the two in bringing the ball out of defence.

Carra has had a bad knock on the head and he could do without being barraged by Boltons bullies, so I would not be surprised to see him sit this one out.

Skrtel and Kyriagos will cope with whatever is thrown at them.

If he is it'd be nice if he could stay fit for more than a week to prove it.

                      That's a fair point.

Skrtel and Kyriagos eat strikers for breakfast.

His best days are well behind him alas. He overall play was shockingly poor against Villa even though he was rarely put under direct pressure. He either hoofed the ball aimlessly forward or slowed play down by running 20-30 yards with it before stopping to pass to whoever was 10 yards to his left. Although he can still occasionally do it, it's becoming more and more clear that time is catching up with him and I won't be surprised if once Agger's fit he'll be rested more and more this season

I thought Carra did very well against Villa. He made number of forays forward and was trying to get to the byeline at least twice in his desire to get us back into the game. he also had a slash at goal from a wide position, plus throw in a couple of crunching tackles and a number of headers. His passing was also pretty progressive too. I sometimes wonder what people want in a centre back. He hoofs when under pressure, better than dilly dallying around and getting caught on the ball. When he has time he more often than not finds a teamate.

Re-watch the game in full paying attention to only Carra and see how often he reads the game.
