I think if Carra was dropped for a few games then a few people would begin to realise that he's a lot more than just a number in our defence. He's the leader - he shouts, he points, he organizes. Skrtel is a better defender because of him. I wouldn't be at all comfortable with a defensive line consisting of a potentially erratic Skrtel and a completely unproven, untested, slow as ****, budget Greek defender starting against Bolton.

If Kyrgiakos is going to play, it has to be with Carragher. At least until he's felt his way into the league. And lets face it, he has a much greater chance of doing that under Jamie's tutelage, than Skrtel's.

Why is there no comment on his performance today? Apart from the odd moments due to settling in he looked fantastic. To come up against Kevin Davies is a nightmare for any defender, even Carra looked pleased he shirked that duty. Very good buy, now I don't have to have nightmares next time Agger / Skrtel are injured together.
          One tit for another.

Whats there to comment on? Even if he had a couple of good moments he was still partly at fault for both of Boltons goals.

Are you looking for the usual red-tinted glowing praise we give to all our new signings on their debuts?

I think Carragher was just as culpable.

He's been very shaky recently, imagine having to come in to a game like Bolton as your debut next to an injured shaky defender like Carra. Makes Kyri's debut all the more impressive TBH. Hope Carra wakes up soon, we need him.

Carra has been shaky. How much is down to injuries is unknown.

For the first goal, Elmander won the header knocking it across goal. Carra reacted by getting on the line as the ball drifted across to Davies. Kygriakos and two others just stood there, marking no one and watched as Davies knocked the ball in. n fairness i think it all happened very quickly.

For the second goal there was a hopefull punt in, Davies leans into Kygriakos and wins the ball laying it off in the direction of Cohen. Carra comes across to block (the only one) and Taylor runs into him, blocking him off and knocking Carra to the ground. This enables Cohen a free strike at goal.

I think it would be harsh laying the blame at either players feet, I think in the case of set pieces it is very much a team effort. In that respect the whole team was lax at defending set pieces, as they have been in all games this season.

Other than those two incidents I think both Kygriakos and Carra did well when not in possession of the ball and both kept bolton at bay. The only thing that seriously pissed me off about the Greek was when he dawdled on the ball, but he'll get used to the pace of the game in time.

Ha ha, I've gotta agree with you. I thought he was average and he kept making errors. Againts a better team, we would have been punished.

With regards to the debuts of our players, I can remember a certain Martin Skrtel being labelled a flop by many people on this forum after his debut. Oh people also labelled Leto a flop after he played just 120 minutes of football for the 1st team.

In fairness Skrtel's debut against Havant & Waterlooville was one of the most comical performances I have ever seen in a Liverpool shirt
