    Pennant

From where I was on the Lower Annie Road on Saturday he looked awful. Yes he was full of running but he seemed to loose the ball too easily, either from tackles or simply slipping on the grass. His crossing wasn't good either.

He did put in a couple of good crosses, but he also gave the ball away a few times.

Seems to go to ground way too easily for me, not sure if it is because he is weak or because he plays for free kicks - he does seem intimidated some times though and I think this is part of it.

He is very low on confidence, that much is clear. Once he builds his confidence hopefully he will be much better. Could do a job for us, although he has been disappointing thus far.

So much for the " I've nothing to prove" rubbish. Needs a good kick in the nuts.

At the moment he has done no more for us than Nunez, and looks far too far off being the complete article to at all justify his fee. In the end he might well turn out ok but at the moment he's a million miles off being the answer for our right side.

That was exactly my summary of him when we played Birmingham at home, except he wasn't in red then.

too small, too weak. Every cross he put in was hung up in the air rather than whipped in. He needs to grow some balls. Get yourself hurt seriously mate, you'll feel better for it.

I'm a bit disappointed about the reaction Pennant's had. By all means, criticise what he does wrong, but he HAS been getting decent crosses into the box since he came, and did so on a couple of occasions on Saturday.

The problem is, as i've said in the other thread, that we dont get bodies into the box and therefore crosses have to be absolutely pin-point, otherwise they're easily dealt with.

I cant lay the blame for that at Pennant, i really cant.

getting crosses into the box is one thing, when they're floated in and ready made for a goalkeeper to take its another.

I dont think they particularly have been. I saw several fly across and then roll away safely - because we dont have enough in the box to actually meet the cross.

Not at all. At this moment in time he has done no more than Nunez did, try quite hard, run into blind alleys, cross aimlessly and fall over quite a bit, and had no greater impact on either the play, the club, or the fans. That doesn't mean I don't think he has a lot more talent than Nunez (who wasn't dreadful either btw, just not good enough), but at the moment on his current play that's about where I see Pennant's relative position in the squad on form.

                            Pennant's career stats.

                            158 games, 11 goals.

1 goal every 14 games. Wow.

Well yes, but seeing as this is a thread about Pennant, I obliged.
