He is very specifically praising Purslow though which is very different to the strategic direction set by the owners. I admit that there is a lot of projection going on in the interpretation of the Reina interview. I just read it as a disillusioned player who had lost a couple of games after a summer in which a mate (and great player) had left and we hadn't obviously kicked on from a position of strength last season. Much as I read the interviews now as Rafa being happy that the football finance interface has been put in the hands of someone he can deal with unlike Parry who clearly wanted control of issues like the Academy."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

That's how i read it, but some seem to think that it is a dig at the owners, set up by Rafa, who is not happy...the same Rafa who appears to be happy and settled and looking forward to working with the new financial guru appointed by the americans...

Well said m8y!!Originally posted by ashey View PostThey sign a world record deal (equal to ManYoo's), & people still have a go!
The new comercial ventures they've announced should help ease the burdern of paying the loan off & free up some more funds for Rafa to strengthen the squad.
I know they lied & I know they saddled us with a huge debt, but things aren't as bad as some people would have you believe.

Where have you being hiding Lecter, I seen them earlier today, Very interesting indeed, Looks like we will be spending the same amount on transfers this summer for at least the next five years, No stadium, They are just going to take the money and run? Not good at all.Last edited by kingfunk; 14-09-09, 11:12 PM.

He's not hanging reina out to dry, but reina hasnt said anything that could get him hung out to dry. It's obvious what the meaning is, but knowing something and proving are utterly different.Originally posted by Scratch View PostYes, but Rafa is publically coming out and praising the way the club is run, and yet you think he is also masterminding Reina's interview with the Guardian. So, on the one hand, he is publically backing G/H's ownership, and thus not risking the wroth of the board, and at the same time he is, if you're view of the interview is right, hanging Reina out to dry.
If the player and managers were in it together, i'd not be expecting to see Rafa publically praising the appointment of Purslow, or how well the two work together..."if i want something, he sees to it that i get it".
So, if he is saying one thing, but getting a squad player to say something else, that is despicable. And the Rafa out jibe was tongue in cheek.
Rafa is playing political games, same as he did at Valencia, same as he's done since the yanks came in - remember post Athens?
He's doing it for all the right reasons, so i dont consider it remotely despicable.
