But thats hardly an argument for it being okay for one lied about it, and secondly that we can easily get ****ed over in a harsher market turn / lower tv money etc.

Being this loaded with debts is not good, not matter which team you are.

Someone did this in another thread:

Judging by the photo above (the t-shirts that they are wearing) the logo may well be all white.

Could a sponser have certain stipulations in their sponsership deal, ie a certain amount of revenue must go towards the team itself...people are saying that the £20million will go towards paying off the debt, but wouldn't SC want to see us successful, after all their name is on our shirt?

Very good point. I am sure they have had assurances that the team will continue to develop and become more successful.

The debt issues must surely have also caused them some concern as I am sure they would not want to be associated with us at a time when we could have serious debt problems and the related implications those bring.

So all in all this new deal is a very positive sign that the club is still healthy, albeit not as healthy as we had hoped when the cunts took over, but not as in trouble as the media like us to believe.

Really pleased with this. Its going to be weird to not have Carlsberg there anymore though. Not weird in a bad way, just weird

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez says he has a great working relationship with the club’s managing director Christian Purslow and has been impressed by his work so far.

Purslow came to Anfield in Spring earlier this year following the resignation of Chief Executive Rick Parry.

Today Purslow confirmed his first major commercial success for the club – the new £80million shirt sponsorship deal with banking giants Standard Chartered.

And Benitez says Purslow has been working closely with him too.

He said, “We are working very hard together, very close. I would say we have a meeting not just every week but every day.

“We are on the phone and as soon as I try to do something or want to do something, he is there.

“So we are working very hard here and I think the relationship is good. I am really pleased.

“I think he understands the club. He was telling me about some games and he remembers who scored the winning goals and things like this – so sometimes it’s a problem for me!

“He loves the club and he wants the best for the club.”

Good point Tee - why would SC want to invest 80mill into a sinking ship? The finances maybe aren't as bad as has been reported by the media (since when do reporters examine our books?)

Just hope, like many, the purse strings can be opened a bit now.......

i've said it on previous threads, i think rafa will get more value for money for players in January, if they are cup tied for Europe and their sides have been eliminated.

Hope Valencia exit early and they want to cash in on Villa............

Maybe now with Standard Chartered onboard Hicks and Gillette will use them to re-finance the re-finance of the re-finance.

I, for one, can't wait to buy next season's shirt. Can't wait! In my excitement might go the whole shabang and buy the aways too.

As a Muslim, no more alcohol sponsorship is a VERY big thing for me. I've tried to spend on other items (training shirts, etc) but its the main shirts I've always wanted to wear. Watch a sudden upturn in shirt sales starting on 1st July (or whenever they're released). Especially from places like Malaysia and Middle East. And of course Bradford. :-p

I think it's very positive that we don't advertise alcohol from next summer, I have alway been uncomfortable seeing my little boy in a shirt with a Carlsberg logo, the kids are just small walking advertising billboards.
                              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

The Americans may be cunts and foul mouthed individuals, but I'm pretty much optimistic about the future.
Until we have an sufficiently sized stadium, with the ticket and merchandising revenue streams that come with it, we'll never compete with Man Utd on a commercial level.

What are you optimisitic about with the yanks? The fact that they can do valuable corporate sponsorship deals that will give them more money? That's THEM, not the club.
