I'm happy, and man enough, to hold my hands up and say i was wrong.... he is without doubt a 1st XI player now...

I would say he's in the 17 - 20 million bracket, judging at todays prices.........
    That's fair enough.

Even though he always seemed to have a certain quality about him, I could never understand why people were writing him (and others) off before he’d even kicked a ball for us.

I can remember people even complained that he offered no goal threat even though his record before West Ham was 1 in every 3.4 matches.

Anyway, another quality bargain player for a manager with such a poor transfer record.

Lucas. Outstanding is a bit much, no?

      MOM Yossi.
Stevie, Insua, Carra, Dirk - very good.
Riera, Skrtel, Lucas, Johnson - good
Pepe, Torres, NGog, Degen, Voronin - average.

Spurs - chokers. even with a man extra they paid the scum way too much respect. they have showed their true average nature today. No way top 4 material. Keane was rubbish as was huddlestone, krancjar and especially hutton.
Stoke - chokers. 5 mins injury time and trying to hang with 10 men at the edge of their own box. Everyone and his dog could see they needed an outlet up front to hold the ball up but the kept giving it back to Chelsea, and the winner was inevitable.

As much as I like him, unfortunately that’s the way I can see things happening for him for the foreseeable future.

I just can’t see him taking the game by the scruff of the neck at the minute, but if everyone else on their game, Lucas is good enough to slot in seamlessly.

Easy stuff today, as it should be - but hasnt always been. Nice to see us dispatching these sort of teams.

Yossi was excellent, a lovely lovely player, intelligent, great movement, desire and a touch of quality. "When Torres and Gerrard dont score, Liverpool dont". Well no, Yossi and Dirk do.

Lucas was decent. Outstanding is a wild exaggeration, just a result of players being judged by their own standards and so, by his own, perhaps today was 'very good'.

Not much to say, comfortable win and hopefully another on Wednesday will take us to West Ham full of confidence. Bit gutting to see Chelsea win in the 94th minute and disappointing (but totally unsurprising) to see Spurs do their annual 'bend over and spread them' routine for the mancs, but there we go.

Some of these corresponding fixtures are starting to worry me. We lost at Spurs, mancs win easily. Will we go and win at Stoke? Tricky, few teams do.

We simply MUST turn Anfield into an inpenetrable fortress again, minus the stooooopid draws.

Just watching the highlights - can see what's going on a lot better than on a tiny stream screen.... but Benayoun was brilliant.

A lot of the time, holding the ctrl button down and scrolling your mouse wheel forward will increase the size of the stream window, so you can watch it almost full screen.

Doesn't work on all streams though.

We've had a **** start to the season with losing against Spurs & Villa (at Anfield ), but at least the other teams around us will now start dropping points as they're all playing eachother over the next few weeks, so we'll be firmly in the race if we can crack on from here.

Still, 9 points from games against Spurs, Stoke, Villa, Bolton & Burnley is still disapointing. We should've taken at least 10 or 12. Season starts now.
We just beat Burnley. BURNLEY. Our last game was a 1 - 3 home defeat.

Bollocks it does. It started early August. We;ve already lost two games. Enough of this optimist ****e.

We have seemingly come up with a good strategy for beating the lesser teams we need to get back to playing as a unit in all games like we did last season. I still think we haven't actually played much worse than we did at the start of last season but the difference was that last season in the first few games we lucked out whereas this season our **** ups have been punished.

The only significant worry for me going forward is the form and body language on the pitch of Torres.

More or less (although that phrase always rings alarm bells for me).

In the last few seasons when ourselves and United have played similar tactically (they have changed this year) both teams have started performance wise quite poorly and gelled after a month or so. The problem is that you can only afford to drop so many points in that period and we more or less have lost as many as we can afford to.

The only plus point is United look much more fragile than before - they remind me of the Houllier team that scrapped to the CL position in his final season. Chelsea are doing excellently in terms of getting points but I don't see a lot of scope for them to develop (and they may even have problems when they lose players to the African Cup of Nations). The team at the minute who have the best balance of points on the board and room for improvement are Citeh actually which is a bit of a worry as I think Arsenal have been unlucky so far this season and the top 5, possibly 6 will be very tight this year IMO.
