Yes, and he is getting progressively worse. He has no obvious strengths that make him stand out and he can't track a man to save his life. I just don't see the potential.Originally posted by PeteBest View PostThe lad hasn't had cover all season, he's had to play virtually every game FFS and it is his first season in the first 11 proper.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

He's hardly a novice. You don't get time for sentimentality these days. He's had the best opportunity in the world handed to him on a plate and he's been terrible, and this isn't exactly a dip in an otherwise distinguished start to his career. Chance came and went as far as I am concerned.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHe's played in a struggling side that's come under a lot of pressure in a lot games and has been totally without confidence. Also he's been identified as a weakness by most teams so is under constant threat and scrutiny, a disproportionate amount. Granted he's not dealt with it very well but in playing nearly every game we've had no opportunity to give him a rest - mentally and physically - and it's a lot for a novice to cope with. People are very harsh with him I think.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

He's got potential, he can play and his crossing is generally good. He needs to learn how to defend and it's all down to positional awareness, which is hard to get for a kid. I remember Ashley Cole and Clichy being the same defensively when they started for Arsenal, but they've improved. Very harsh IMO.Originally posted by Operation View PostYes, and he is getting progressively worse. He has no obvious strengths that make him stand out and he can't track a man to save his life. He's a first season novice. It's his first campaign as a fully-fledged first teamer and he's not long turned 21. If that doesn't make him a novice then I dunno what does.Originally posted by Operation View PostHe's hardly a novice. You don't get time for sentimentality these days. Jesus H Christ!!!
He is only 21. Remember what Carra was like then? He is a good prospect, and very decent going forward, comfortable on the ball and probably our best crosser. So he gave a cheap pen away... So did Carra.
Yes we need another left back, but that aint gonna propel us up the league. He is getting good experience for next season, when due to having no money, he will probably still be first choice.
Remember Djimmi Traore? Now he was ****!In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Ashley Cole was a very attacking left back who would repeatedly overlap and cross from the byline. Great attacking, poor defending. Insua does not have these qualities. I just don't see a good defender in the making.Originally posted by PeteBest View PostHe's got potential, he can play and his crossing is generally good. Insua has been playing that position for years. He can't tackle or track a runner, i.e. basic aspects of defending. He's **** against English teams in the PL and this wasn't even a PL game. He's played enough games by the age of 21 ffs. Is 21 young these days?Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Come on man that's just facetious. He's learning his trade, he's just having to do it in the full glare of a struggling first team. Ngog is the same age and is learning his trade. Of course 21 is young.Originally posted by Operation View PostIf I try and take up golf I will be a novice.

Well unless we can find a good left back who can do both properly we'll have to make do with trying to improve him, they don't come in very often those kind of players these days, especially when you've got no money.
