lets cut out the petty name calling and abuse please thankyou
My opinion on insua is i like him - I think he is a cracking little player (obviously he is no world beater, but how many defenders are at 20) - people slate rafa at times for not bringing through lads from the ressies or younger players etc - and yet here we are clearly with a great prospect on our hands and at 20 yrs old more than capable of holding his own in the premiership. Yes he is young, yes he will have bad games and make mistakes, but he will continue to improve..
Look at it another way - if insua was at united/chelsea/arsenal, going on his performances so far this season we would all be slagging off liverpool/rafa/the owners for missing out on yet another good prospect
To put it into to perspective - i have only heard good things about the two young full backs at united (fabio/rafael) - be it from our own fans here, or in the pub, or the media or manc mates etc etc - And insua who is about a 1 year older than them, imo, is miles and miles ahead of them in development/ability and here we have people slagging him off/writing him off as not good enough all ready.
I have used this argument through out this thread and even looked up the ages of various players at LFC to show the point - liverpool or rafa mainly, get critiscied for not taking a chance and giving youth a chance, and yet when he gives blantantly the best young player at the club a run of games, we slag the lad off for not being ready
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Dont want to bring negativity to a fantastic day but ****ing hell lads, Insua is utter garbage and was a liability once more today. Valencia did him time and time again, even O'Shea beat him for pace a few times too.
His positional sense, lack of height, strength and pace makes him a target for every right winger he comes up against.
He needs a spell out of the team before he costs us dearly."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

He's a kid. He didn't have a great game but he wasn't nearly as bad as you make out. Oddly I think he doesn't link very well with Mascherano - they often seem to go for the same ball. Which is a shame as Mascher was often the one helping him with cover."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

He's a young lad low in confidence. He hasn't had the experience of coming through a bad patch like Carra and the rest of the senior players.
People need to remember last year and how good he was. He's still that same player but questioning himself. He will be a top player at Liverpool I have no doubt about it.
That said, competition with Aurelio for the LB spot will serve him and us well.Forwards.......

He struggled with Valencia just as I predicted he would. Thankfully he was well covered for the majority of the game and as such got through the game.Originally posted by redder View PostDidn't see anything wrong with him last night. I think some people are way too critical.Forwards.......

That one occasion can make all the difference........Originally posted by redder View PostWhat did Valencia do apart from smashing the ball onto the bar once? Nothing.
But he gave Insua a tough time all afternoon. He out paced him at will but thankfully he had good support from his team mates. United tried to play Valencia in at every opportunity as they knew Valencia had the beating of him, but he coped in the end.
Valencia also set up Rooney for a header in the first half that should have tested Reina.Forwards.......

That's nonsense. Insua was beaten once and yes, "it could have been the difference" but it wasn't. Johnson was also beaten by Carrick and Carragher and Agger each could have given up a penalty which "could have made the difference," but they didn't either. Give credit where it is due; he's been good for us, has more assists than Johnson, and has been faced with a never ending parade of left sided "wingers" that he is supposed to link up with; Babel, Riera, Aurellio, Benayoun, etc. While Kuyt and Johnson are almost always lined up together, Insua has to adapt every match to the player in front of him for help and overlapping runs, etc etc. Given the constant flux, he's hardly been directly responsible on any conceded goals and has done well to prevent crosses or direct runs into the box, give or take. Everyone gets beaten once in a while, that's the nature of defense. But Insua has been very good, all things considered. Most of our concessions have been from set pieces, and the only one that comes to mind where a finger could be pointed at him is Elmander beating Insua on a headed cross that was then scored; the height difference between the pair is about 1.5 feet, so no surprise there. I don't get the criticism. I really don't."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr
