It makes buying a top quality player that little bit more magic.

One Torres-esque signing every few years is the way to do it.

Lot of bollocks being sprouted here eh?

Obvious one being about how Valencia tore him a new one. Y'know, sluggish unskillful Ronaldo replacement that he is

Insua is a left back. I'd love us to have a left back with the pace that Valencia has, but then he wouldn't be a left back, would he

Those using the tired old 'positional sense' argument seem like they haven't the first idea about football, and are using a cliche picked up off Jamie Redknapp

In case we haven't noticed, we're playing with attacking fullbacks. We're using fullbacks for width as much as the right or left sided midfielders. They're supposed to be that far up

There is one fullback in the world that is able to both attack and defend at the absolute top level, just the one. 2 if you count Maicon, and thats at a push

Valencia did have the better of Insua, but every full back has a tough game every now and again. In Insua's case, he's had a tough month or so but I have full confidence he will come through it.

He's not been at his best but we must all remember that he is a young lad, and if senior players like Carra can have a tough run of form, then so can young kids like Inusa.

ive already said that the points I made werent criticisms of him rather weaknesses in his game that he needs to address.

He has the potential to be a wonderfully balanced footballer that is adept at carrying out offensive and defensive duties to an exceptionally high standard.

But the defensive side of his game has to improve and for a debut season you can say that so far he is doing ok. his goal v arsenal was top notch and shows that he can also provide a goal threat.

for the lyon goal insua should have been trying to do his best to track govou's run but he didnt even try after govou slipped it between his legs. Watch the video again and although lucas was also there, govou ended up where insua should have been on the left of our defense. The fact that govou had all that space without anyone near him is criminal.

i really like that lad and he has time on his side to improve those weaknesses.

I thought Insua was one of the shining lights today. always comfortable on the ball.

Kuyt cost us the 2nd. Reinas didn't even try for the 3rd. In fact he dived out of the way.

I blame Degen for the 2nd, Kuyt tried to keep the ball in play for us. Our closest player stood rooted to the spot and watched, no effort or football intelligence to undestand what was happening. Just the icing on the sh**pie that the Fulham-Liverpool game was.

Just a thought - could he be the man to replace Mascher when/ if he goes to Barca?
Watched him a lot in the reserves before he broke through and he was class and regularly got decent shots and passes around the box in - and obviously he's can tackle.

BTW -having the two smallest premier league players in our team cant help with defending set pieces

The two smallest? Surely SWP is smaller than both? And Lennon? Anyway who's the other? Insua and...............Mascherano?

Just looked it up - Masher is 5'7, Insua 5'8.............SWP and Lennon are both 5'5.

They are english so they are bigger.

But as for Insua, for his age he is quite a player who will get better and better all the time. This bull**** of some has to cover his mistakes all the time is quite amusing as he is already covering someone else's mistakes when winger gets a change to have a go at him. Fast and tricky wingers to get past defender no matter who that defender is...

Anyone see MOTD there? Hansen highlighted Insua's defensive weaknesses on 3 or 4 crucial occasions. Sunday league stuff to say the least.,Ball watching, half-arsed attempts at marking up etc.
When are people going to realise, he's ****ing ****e? completely and utterly ****e.

Yep a real shining light who was at fault for 2 of Fulham's goals.
Always comfortable on the ball, what use is that when you can't defend??
