What about last summer? Were you pleased with that? They are shifting the goalposts now by including the contracts in the transfer budget and we can't just be happy about that, NEVER has anyone insinuted that contracts are included in the transfer budget. If they want it that way then they have to increase it.Originally posted by EwarWoo View PostSo during which of the previous summer did we spend significantly less then the rest of the "top 4"?
I was under the impression that other the Chelsea we've been spending similiar for a while. As the anti rafa brigade used to trot out at every possible opportunity.
The difference between us and the rest of the top four is that if the need something they can go out and buy someone in, we can't. We have always had one or two spots needing to sort, they can always fix what is broken.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

How any lfc fan can have any faith in our owners is incredible. They are here to make THEMSELVES cash, any way they can, and making us fans happy does'nt come into it.
I keep hearing that to do this the club needs to be successful, well i don't believe that's necessarily the case, as Hicks has said himself.
They will just concentrate on selling the name LFC on every tacky item they can, winning trophies is far down their list of prorities imo.

Responses are unfair, they bought the club just prior to the credit crunch, we were crying out for new owners at the time IIRC. We're lucky that they were able to refinance at all. With the squad we have, we really should be able to manage on £20m net spend.Originally posted by Pacman View PostHow dare fans of top 4 club expect a top 4 transfer budget.
All I'm saying is that they are being prudent, regardless how popular that makes them. If they could afford a bigger budget then I'm sure they'd make it available. I'd rather we got our debt down instead of running the risk of going under.

No, there are people on this forum who reside in the the real world, don't hang on every negative story that is produced by the papers/sos/internet gossip and realise that football is not like Football Manager, so unless a club is bankrolled by a billionaire who is not looking for a return on his investment, then a club will have to budget and so far, we've been doing ok.

Is that the "real world" where you stick your fingers in your eyes shouting "wa wa wa im not listening"?Originally posted by Scratch View PostNo, there are people on this forum who reside in the the real world, don't hang on every negative story that is produced by the papers/sos/internet gossip

That's key really, I would not have any complaints about a budget of 20m. net, but if all contract renewals are to come out of the budget we don't stand a chance. Why do you think Mascher wasn't given a new deal? We couldn't afford to IMO. I think he is peeved off because of that and I think we have to sell him next season to fund further renewals and purchases.Originally posted by Norbert Dentressangle View PostResponses are unfair, they bought the club just prior to the credit crunch, we were crying out for new owners at the time IIRC. Also I think they are prudent now because they took a HUGE risk to buy the club leveraged to the top and now the club has to pay the consequences. Which ever way I look at it, they took a risk that didn't pay off and now we'll see the club drag further behind.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Hate the situation we're in but it's a reality. I'd love an Abramovich type owner but they total 1 in world football, Abramovich.
Looking on the bright side, at least we got Torres before the credit crunch arrived, there's no way we would've got him now.

Second paragraph is correct, but it's not their fault and could be construed as them wanting to buy us even more. Perhaps the ones that should shoulder the blame are those that accepted a bid from such a highly leveraged buyer.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostThat's key really, I would not have any complaints about a budget of 20m. net, but if all contract renewals are to come out of the budget we don't stand a chance. Oh, so the papers don't realise that bad "news" sells...and what about all the claims that the London papers have a vendetta against us...oh no, if it's a bad story that fits in with the Liverpool-Is-Screwed fan mindset, we'll happily believe it.Originally posted by Chris View PostIs that the "real world" where you stick your fingers in your eyes shouting "wa wa wa im not listening"?

You believe what you want, but the reality is the yanks aren't going anywhere, so i will look on the brightside, otherwsie i'll end up a gibbering wreck posting vitriol on an internet forum, spitting my dummy out and getting all upset at people who dare to have a different viewpoint from me.

HAHAHA You think Tony Barrett, Oli Kay and co both huge Liverpool supporters sit at home every day thinking of fake Liverpool stories to make up?Originally posted by Scratch View PostOh, so the papers don't realise that bad "news" sells...and what about all the claims that the London papers have a vendetta against us...oh no, if it's a bad story that fits in with the Liverpool-Is-Screwed fan mindset, we'll happily believe it.

For someone who preaches about the "real world" maybe you could join us sometime. People like you make me sick, and are the exact reason we get their media releases about how rosey things are, you are gullible.
And it doesnt need any media article to say how bad things are, the FACTS are all available for everyone.

I could list all the arguments I had typed in countless other threads, but I really can't be arsed.Oh I don't know.
