Painful and predictable to watch. Torres too isolated and dealt with by Carvalho and Terry, while Essien looked after Gerrard. They knew that we didnt have anything to hurt them in wide areas, so their fullbacks easily took care of Riera and Kuyt, leaving the CBs and Essien to nullify Gerrard and Torres. Piss easy for them. Should've played 442, two strikers to occupy their two CBs and Gerrard bursting from deep, into the space created by the strikers and their movement.

Also, why did we insist on throwing high ball after high ball into their box? We have hardly any aerial threat and Chelsea are one of the most aerially and physically powerful teams in the league, so high crosses were food and drink for them. We dont learn though, we never ****ing learn. It's like our constantly **** and failed corners - but we just do the same over and over again. Sometimes you can cause problems by drilling it low into the box - look at the mancs late goal yesterday. But no, we just persisted in pumping easy high balls into the box, for Terry, Carvalho, Ivanovic, Ballack and Lampard to just keep clearing. Idiotic one dimensional and naive ****e.

League's not over yet, but if we dont win at Sunderland, we're out of it. 9 points will be far too much to recover from.

I'm not a big fan of Riera. I think he's average at best.

I was also pleased with Skrtel who I thought played very well today and should have got a penalty.

Masher was better, he ****ed up but then he was immense apart from that.
He did nothing wrong agreed just as the more offensive of the 2 dont think he did anything particularly good either.

Agreed, Craig. If I had to pick two major flaws today it would be the constant looking for Torres in the air with floated balls and the absence of any attacking threat from Kuyt and Riera.

For the last few minutes we were lobbing cross after cross into their box and Terry cleared every one of them. It was laughable if I wasn't in so much pain at the time.

We need a player or two that can cause havoc and space for Torres. Only Benayoun seems to offer that at the minute. Kuyt and Riera rarely got up there to support him. He's good but he can't take on 4 defenders on his own. We should listen to other fans on this... Gerrard and Torres.... that's it as far as an attacking threat.

Credit to Skrtel today. I think he was outstanding.

Yeah, Skrtel stepped up to the mark today, but as you say we were one dimensional when it came to look for the equaliser.........we really need an attacking threat - need a new No 7 (and quick........)

We've got Yossi. Rafa just stupidly dropped him.

Im gutted, but frankly if anyone is willing to surrender the league on the first weekend of October then perhaps they should check themselves for Oestrogen.

totally agree Craig - madness not playing him from the start.

My point was, we still need another attacking threat in the next transfer window - hope it happens......

I think we're one more loss from being out of the race.

How realistic do you think it'd be to overturn a 9 point gap?

If we win at Sunderland and then beat the mancs at Anfield, it'll be game on but lose the next game and we'll be needing miracles.

The time is irrelevent, it depends on how many points we are behind. After Sunderland we face Man Utd and Arsenal. If we don't get more than 3 points from those 3 games, its over.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

I'd obviously love to have another quality attacking threat, but with Gerrard, Torres and Yossi, we've got 3 quality ones there - and Kuyt will chip in with 10-15 goals too.

It's more about properly utilising what we have IMO. I'd love more class players to come in, but i wouldnt say we dont have enough.
