The way people talk on here about the season being over is a joke.

It's almost like they want to be proven right at times - call that support?
We failed to bury some chances and we let 2 slip by, but this was Chelsea FFS, who will definately be right up there at the end.
You cannot compare the games against Hull & co. to what happened yesterday as it's alomost a different league.

    Chelsea will lose some
    Mancs will lose some
    Arsenal will lose some
    Man C will lose many....

And we will be right up amongst them.

And we will lose some. More than the mancs or Chelsea, and possibly Arsenal and City, I would say.

I know its a bit doom and gloom, but you have to accept facts and we have a make shift defence, whilst the Mancs and Chavs have an established defence with the experience of lifting the EPL title. We will lose more games than the pair of them. Even when fit, we still don't know who will get the nod, Agger, Carra or Skrtel, and thats not good for them...or us. The back four needs to be solid and consistent.

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Ferdinand is more and more injury prone for the mancs they have an unproven right back and another ugly as **** one, they are also shipping on average a goal a game.

Chelsea will concede more in January as they lose essien etc and also there carvalho and terry will no doubt pick up knocks

The way Rafa set us up and the starting eleven was exactly what i thought he would do. Riera and Kuyt to start out wide to nullify their full backs getting forward who provde all of Chelseas width.

Benny doesnt stay out wide and tends to drift inside which would have allowed their full backs to get forward so i could see why Rafa didnt start him, this formation and gameplan worked extremely well when we beat them last year.

I thought that neither side offered much at all going forward and it was a pretty drab game, i thought our CB's looked better than they have in weeks and Drogba was being well shackled.
That said, i always felt that if anyone was likely to score it would be them as they looked sharper than us all around the pitch, and when we conceded the first goal i couldnt see us getting back into it.
Gerrard wasnt involved at all and even when he was there was a shocking lack of movement from the midfield to provide any options to get any service to Torres, Essien worked well to deny the space but we made it easy for him to do that.

I think that our full backs were instructed not to push forward so we didnt get exposed by their FB and if im truthful it reminded me of many games under Rafa where we were just trying not to get beat.

The league isnt over by any means but another loss by us in the next 2 games or so and i think we can forget it for this year.

why are people on here getting all stressed out? over last 3 years I have grown bored of it all. It is all about billionaires coming in and playing champ manager. nothing to do with football anymore. When I see people on TV and on forums hoping the americans go and we get a wealthy Saudi makes me dispondant. Why would you want this club to become another persons toy? I hope the arse falls out of football as it is a far flung relative of what it should be

                I agree with that.

As far as big games go, yesterdays defeat was the easiest I've taken for many a year. Each and every year the divide between club, player and fan has been getting bigger and bigger and my passion for the game is at its lowest point ever.

Too much money in the game, too many mercenaries on the pitch, the game has gone soft and it seems that the most vile of creatures normally succeed.

You had Alonso moaning about his money with the variation between the pound and the euro, Gary Neville saying that top footballers aren't paid enough (add any number of other examples here, Adebayor, Ronaldo etc), whilst many of us are struggling to get a few quid together.

There will be a time when football is no longer the game of the working classes and live games will be attended by only the affluent upper classes.

                Sad times ahead.

I agree with this 100% sadly, doesn't hurt like it used to for this very reason

On talksh*te they're saying that aurelio fecked off towards the corner flag ahead of the second goal leaving carra fecked with drogba. Havent seen a replay but if thats the case then i feel sorry for him.

Rafa needs to grow some balls, drop Lucas. Play Gerrard in the middle, and let Kuyt go and do the donkey work for Torres up front.

                        Its simple!

The problem remains: When Torres and Gerrard have an off day, the others rarely threaten!

the biggest worry for me is that we have struggled against all the half decent sides that we have come across. we have lost our best quality - we have lost our solid base from which we built our play.

we have lost our defensive solidity and look vulnerable. the team looks short at the highest level.

IMO we did not strengthen anywhere near as much as I expected/hoped us to this Summer. It appears as though it has been a case of 1 step forward 2 back.

I still think it would be foolish to discount us at this still premature stage, however the least we should hope for is consolidation of our top 4 spot and hopefully some real investment in the team preferbaly in January, if not next Summer.
