I just don't know..Chelsea look vulnerable, Utd are getting progressively worse imo, and Arsenal are inconsistent, but we've royally ****ed it up already. 4 losses in 9 games, **** me
The league is more competitive this year; teams will take more points off one another and hence the top teams will finish with less points and the top 6 (or so) will be fairly tightly bunched IMO

Actually, to equal our 86 of last year, our record for the remaining 29 games needs to look something like

      W 22 D 5 L 2

which looks like a monumental task at the moment, but whatever way you look at it, it's title-winning form. Which is what we need. **** it we've got no chance

He's much less than half the player N'Gog is, N'Gog actually looks like he wants to play for Liverpool FC when he's on the pitch.

          This player, that player.

If it's simply about players how come we look completely disorganised and have no plan B? None of those players looked like they knew what the tactics were, if there were any. You can buy players like Madrid but if the manager can't motivate and organise the players what is the point?

The biggest concern for me is what seemed like an absence of drive and a plan.

If he hadnt opened his mouth then we might have been in a different situation instead of finishing second. Face it, he ****ed up and as the poster says we had a chance to win the weakest league for a long time and didnt.
Sorry but I don't buy that for one moment, Rafa's mouth does not play football; his "rant" had bugger all to do with performances on the pitch imo. You could just as easily (and incorrectly) argue that Gerrard's arrest and court appearances lost us the league.

Given that we had virtually the same squad last year as we do this, and everyone is decrying at the moment how many average players we have, I'd say we more likely over-performed last season than "should have won the league and didn't".

ManYoo finished on 90 points ffs, that's not a weak league to win. And neither they, nor Arsenal & Chelsea have substantially improved this year, infact you could argue some or all are weaker this year.

Since when have "the media's widely held beliefs" been a barometer of anything anyway?

Honestly, by all means have a go about things that are tangible and realistic, but this stuff about us dropping points last season over some things said at a press conference is just down to unfortunate and coincidental timing, nothing else. Words do not play football games.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
            Mine angry and defrauded young?

But it's hardly that simple is it. We have spent money on other players as well you know. Dossena at something like 8mill. So if you change it to would you rather have kept Crouch or Bellamy and not bought Dossena, it's a bit different.

I thought Spearing started out very well. He didn't misplace a pass for 30 minutes or so, then as the team started getting worse, he followed suit. I think it's a bit harsh on Jay Spearing, he wasn't the worst player on the pitch for us. One out of Johnson (who was atrocious and kept dallying on the ball), Skrtel and Agger were the pick of the worst.

Spearing made his first start for us and I think he was quite good in the first half.
