I very rarely comment on here but at the moment we're not good enough, lots of excuses as to the why's and wherefore's but the simple facts are at present we are not good enough!

LFC over the years have been a club that sticks by the manager as well as the players through thick and thin and this should be applauded; these days have sadly gone, I rate Rafa highly but it worries me he has gone a little stale, a team minus Xavi and Arbeloa now look woefully poor and it worries me, the pundits say we're a two man team although I think they played together less than a dozen times last season.

I do hope I am wrong and Rafa sorts it out but at the moment, perhaps the change of manager in the not too distant future is not as blasphomos as it once was!

Just some thought's there so try not to crucify!

Serious question, If Mr. Benitez got sacked, how long would everyone give the next manager to win the league?

IMO, we stick through the wind and the rain....

You'd have to be a complete and utter idiot to want the manager out, sorry but you simply have to be.

Once we spend the £25m + to get rid of Rafa and his backroom staff, and spend probably £5m more hiring another lot and commiting millions more over the next few years, how is this great new manager going to overhaul the squad, does he come with his own money tree in his garden? We spent **** all net in the summer, a new manager will have even less than that, after paying off Rafa and potentially missing CL football our loss of money would be a complete disaster.

People should think. We cant get a new manager then give him 50m in January to start building his new squad.

Be very careful what you wish for. Because rather than get a new/better manager in and go forward its more likely we'd get a worse manager in and go backwards.

my first instinct is to say thanks to rafa and thenwish him well in his future career elsewhere.

we have to face facts that we have a very good young manager who is very highly rated in our world. if he gets sacked he will have no problem getting another job because he has several excuses for this apparent failure - all of which are valid.

liverpool football club is the poisoned chalice of football. nobody wants to own us because of the debt and nobody will want to manage us because of the instability surrounding the club.

no manager worth his salt will want to work with hicks and co. if we lose benitez then the wheels might come off altogether. there's no guaranteethat another manager could do better in the time he has.

the bottom line is that we need him to get usinto the CL. if we don't qualify then I worry for the future ofour club

Pointless getting rid of him mid season. First off, I don't want Sammy Lee in charge while we're looking for someone and secondly I think we would implode even more than I think we are now. We have to give him till the end of the season and then unless there is a miraculous turn around get rid.

I'm sick of his rubbish transfer windows (blame shared equally with board - I don't think he's had enough support but I don't think he's spent what he's got wisely)
I'm sick of the rubbish insipid flairless football (baring 3 months last year)
I'm sick of his inflexible and crazy substitutions
I'm sick of his stupid brain freeze formation moments
I'm sick of his 'favourites' always playing and never being dropped even when they're playing ****
I'm sick of his often bizarre team selections

To be honest, I'm getting a bit sick of Rafa. I can put up with all of the above if he wins trophies because that proves there is method to his madness and that it works. It doesn't work though, in fact it hasn't worked for three years and doesn't look like it's going to work this year either.

He has till the end of the season to prove me wrong. I like Rafa and I want him to succeed but I no longer believe he will and that is a very sad and depressing thing to type.

Dont post often and have never ever called for a Liverpool manager to be sacked and wont start now.

However Rafa is pushing me to the edge.

In his time he has spent approx 200M quid and i know there is an argument that he has recouped most of that and that mancs and Chavs have spent more etc. etc., ... I dont care about that argument.

What does concern me is that with all the changes he has made to the squad over the last 5 years does anyone really think we have a better squad than what he inherited from Houllier ?? .... i dont think so and for me that is the problem.

To spend 200M and not advance after bringing in approx 68 players that he choose (ok Keane questionable) we are still in this position where the best we could do Saturday when we needed to save the game was bring on Ngog and Veronin and last night Veronin again was deemed our last throw of the dice.... bloody hell the guy would not get a game with Pourtsmouth!!!!

So when i read ... rafa needs more money from new owners .... well i just think thats bollocks, anyone can spend a s**t load of money but spending it wisely is how managers will be best judged and on that we should ask ourselves this .....
irrevelant of the cost, if you make 60 + player changes to any squad in a 5 years period and that squad is still at best ordinary, is that doing a good job, an acceptable job ??

It's a good point. If I was an owner would I give Rafa 40m to spend in the summer? He has bought some dross.

Martin Kelly was a huge positive tonight. Looks like we might still need to fill the following positions:

Left Back (Insua is a prospect but his inexperience is costing us)
Centre half (Kelly could be the answer here as cover for Agger/Skrtel, Carra is on the way out I'm afraid, he's been poor this season)
Right wing (Kuyt played above himself last year, but he's been very poor this year and was pants tonight)
Left wing (Riera and Aurelio not up to it)
Centre forward (We are crying out for a top quality striker to partner Gerrard/Torres whichever one is not injured)

My biggest problem with Rafa is that the team sometimes lacks drive and the tactics are letting us down. THAT Real Madrid game apart we've never seen the sort of football we saw at Valencia. I think the sign of a great coach is the ability to make good with what you have. Sunderland was another indication that he cannot do that, sadly.

Why do people keep going on about 2 players

                          Last night we were without
Torres, Gerrard (for most of the game), Johnson, Riera, Aquillani,

Had Agger on his first game back from injury

Macher and Insua after travelling half way round the world and playing for their countries world cup survival.

Any team is going to suffer with that amount of injuries/tiredness.

Add to that the lack of confidence at the moment and there are issues. To suggest sacking the guy that has put us into a position were we 'expect' again is ridiculous. Yes he makes mistakes, yes he can be infuriating at times but to suggest getting rid is insane.

Sorry is that the Crouch who couldn't stand to play second fiddle to Torres and annoyed fans by moaning about it, plus being the player that wasn't worth the £7-£8m we payed for him. Is it Keane, the player who couldn't hit the side of a barn when playing for us. I'm sure that the same Bellamy that most fans just plain and simply wanted rid of and wasn't good enough to wear the shirt of our beloved club. How fickle we are!

It's happened for the past two seasons and I guess it's going to happen all over again because by the end of the season we WILL be in the running. This team fully fit is easily capable of winning 10 games on the bounce and that's all it takes to get right back in it.
I'm not sure why those fans should be considered reasonable because they sit back and say 'we'll win just be quiet' all the time when things keep being pointed out? We were only in the running once, and thats pretty much because the other teams screwed up more then usual. Majority of Rafa's buys have turned out to be complete crap. When we bought Ngog I said he was a complete waste of money and got hounded over it by these reasonable fans. You arent allowed to say anything slightly negative or its all 'you're a crap fan' speeches by the faithful bullies.

I'm not saying kick Benitez out. I'm saying I expect alot better after he's been here for this many years. When players under perform for a while you usually bench them. But theres some who never get benched. Thats a MASSIVE flaw. Sticking with players who are bad but hoping they'll come good. Thats what Houllier did and everyone got frustrated. Yet its ok for Benitez to do it? Why, because he's our current manager and all is forgiven UNTIL he leaves?

Again not saying fire him. But I was never too impressed when they first hired him to begin with. I wanted a more attacking mindset for our manager. And I also wanted one who will SCREAM a players ears off if he's being useless. Benitez is far too placid. You cant control players that way. Put the fear of god in them and they'll play out of their skins. Too many players in the team who just plod along like useless dead weight.

Heres the other thing that royally PISSES me off. Certain players are allowed to perform bad frequently this season because they had good seasons before. Yet Alonso who had good seasons, then bad seasons mainly due to injury, then returns with no injuries and hs an awesome season, he's more then welcomed by poeple on here to get sold because he didnt perform the previous season. We have certain players who perform once every 5 games year in year out. They never go. Its this sort of crap that infuriates me. Meanwhile every other teams supporters are laughing themselves stupid EVERY season, but we're supposed to keep our heads in the sand because its the Liverpool way. Bring me back Dalglish as manager and I'll be a happy man.

Only because Rafa insists on playing with one striker, if he played with two, like most, then we'd be able to keep 2 top strikers happy. He chooses the formation that means we'll never keep 2 quality strikers at the club.

Its all well and good when Gerrard and Torres are fit, but when not, our lack of attacking quality costs us. Torres loses the supply from Gerrard if Gerrard is out and Gerrard loses a quality goal scorer if Torres is out...if they're both out we're very average.
