Iv'e still not seen it clearly, first it looked to me like MO had hold of Carras shirt dragging him down with him, i just thought MO bottled it, as he knew he'd be through on goal one on one and didn't fancy it.

I think it's more down to their interpretation than whether it's right or wrong as you said.
I thought it was a perfectly clean tackle at the time. His foot only became slightly raised as it bounced off the ball after making good firm contact. I don't see any good reason for that to be interpreted as a foul personally (unless my memory of it is somewhat rose tinted).

Yeah I thought they both had hold of each other, and in fact it was Owen pulling Carragher down that then caused Carragher to fall and in turn pull Owen down. But perhaps I'm a little biased

Everyone seems to be forgetting the penalty we should have had when Berbatov actually ripped Kuyt's shirt whilst pulling him down....

It was more of an observation that a criticism.

Reece has explained exactly how I seen it. I don’t think it was a penalty, but so easily could have been. The post I replied to said Carra was back to his best, but I was merely pointing out how fine the margins are between success and failure, because even though Carra played as he did, if the referee had called the decisions otherwise then the ‘Carra is finished’ bandwagon would continue.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

he was back to his all action style for sure.....but just give the ball to agger, there was no need for his hoofball....dont think one of them hit the target.

Yep every time he hit one of those long floaters we lost possession. Otherwise he was back to his best. I did think that was a wild challenge on Carrick though - there wasn't much room for error and he only just got the ball. As it was, definitely no penalty but as has been said already, it could so easily have been a pen. Bit reckless I thought.

I was interested to here Hansen say that Carragher plays better when he can stay deeper. It seems likely that Aggers greater pace and skill on the ball allows Carragher that freedom more than the more pedestrian Skrtel. I don't think it helps Carragher that our fullbacks are so progressive now though and the fact that they were relatively restrained against United probably helped too.

It is however very good to start having more of our best options available.

That continues to be a frustration for me. I don't think he did it as much when Alonso was in team, because he would drop back to pick up the ball. But still, its nearly always wasteful. Although wasn't it him who played the great long ball when Torres scored a screamer against Blackburn last season?

Thought it was very clever the way Carra reacted to the Ref. The way Carra remonstrated with him may just have swayed the ref into thinking it was slightly more "6 of one half dozen of the other" than a straight sending off.

I know they paid a big premium for him but so far this season he has been excellent for them along with Rooney. You even saw touches of real class yesterday.

They lost it in midfield against us I think. To be honest I have had the feeling all season that their midfield is actually quite weak and poorly organised. The attacking play of Rooney and Berbatov allied to the guile of Giggs and their systematic cynical fouling has allowed them to beat a lot of teams.

If they were refereed strongly every game I think they would be struggling to mount a title challenge at the minute. I guess how you influence those sort of things has to be thought of as part of how you manage a team though.

The way he controls the ball out of the air at times is ****ing sublime. Still, I don't think he is delivering enough as a striker, certainly not to warrant the amount they paid for him. But surprise surprise the media don't harp on about it.

                              Fine margins.

I thought he was absolutely immense though.

His performances have been better but just three goals in all comps so far tells its own story. He's certainly not the most popular player amongst their support.
