    The Media

Lads, I was at the game yesterday & am still on a high. But I have to say that I'm on the verge of crossing the channel to **** about 20 journos unless this Rafa/LFC bashing stops.

I'm no Paul Tomkins but whats gone on in the past week has been nothing short of disgraceful. The Sunday Times, The Observer, The Telegraph, The Times, The Mirror (Lipton), The S*n (all ****s but McGarry especially) all had hatchet jobs on Rafa leading up to this game. And what do we get this morning????

The Times leading with Fergie blaming it on the ref & Paddy Barclay putting it down to Utd being poor. The Guardian saying we're now just a one man team & Paul Hayward unable to resist another dig at Rafa.

Whilst I consider myself Irish (I've lived here with my Irsh born parents since my early teens) I grew up in Liverpool. The conbination has engrained in me a sense of community that I hope never leaves me. As a result I REALLY take this stuff personally. I presume that there are thousands of scousers out there with the same rage. So why not urge Rafa to forge the siege mentality that now exists within the club. The only journo worth reading on Rafa is DIon Fanning (see yesterdays outstanding article here where he correctly predicts how yesterdays game would go.. http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...r-1924087.html)

I don't know what I'm trying to achieve with this thread but I guess I'm looking to see if anyone else has reached my tipping point

The media love nothing more than having a dig at us, it's something I don't like but have come to accept. To be honest I see the media reports as a joke and only read them for a laugh, although it's depressing to think they get paid for writing such drivel
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I just try and ignore it all now, it really is laughable. Even when you're expecting to read such **** though stuff like this can still be a little shocking.

Arsenal would have beaten Leeds 6-0 and Liverpool aren't a quarter of a team without Gerrard and Torres says Merson.
"My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I would die for that Liverpool shirt. I think the club loves me and I feel the same, no matter what the situation." - Pepe Reina, Nov '09.

I was enjoying the commentators last night, they seemed to spend a fair chunk of the match taking the piss out of Fergie.

Hopefully that will spread to the wider media

99.9% of Media = SCUM. Especially in sport, where most have absolutely no sense of neutrality when reporting (making up) the story.

**** the media, they're all cunts and will continue to be cunts.

And the reason is, because Rafa doesn't play their game, he's an outsider (and he wants to be, does his own thing, doesn't give a **** about anything else), always will be, and I say it's more of a reason to be proud of our manager. He doesn't suck the media's cock, and if he doesn't suck cock, then neither should we suck cock. **** the cocksuckers hahahahaha

I think we're going over the top here.

If any other top 4 club had been in the same position as us the knives would have been out for them, maybe less so Man Utd as they have past experience of starting slowly and then hitting their stride. Liverpool have been an easier target as writing us off was less likely to result in them being shown up.

Ripping the shreds from the top teams sells newspapers. Also remember that a lot of Journos are fans of the other clubs. Rafa has his allies thanks to LFC fans in the media so it's not all one way.

Prior to yesterdays game most fans on here predicted a defeat for the club and five defeats on the spin, so the media are obviously going to be thinking the same.

The only difference is the sensational headlines. Martin Lipton (mirror) had it down that Rafa would be sacked if they failed to make the top 4 and that defeat to Man Utd would cost them a spot in the top 4. The headline? Something along the lines of Rafa to get the chop if Man Ud win!
                          Forwards.......

Merson: "I would be surprised if Roy Hodgson swapped Bobby Zamora or Andy Johnson for Ngog. This is a player who wouldn't get in Fulham's team and yet he's playing for one of the biggest teams in the world, arguably the biggest."

I don't see anything wrong with that

There was a disgraceful hatchet job in yesterday's Sunday Times that I was surprised to see Jonathan Northcroft put his name to (he's usually pretty balanced). I think they all just got the scent of blood and thought that if they piled the pressure on and we lost they could get Rafa sacked by the weekend. Scolari had the same treatment last year.

The only way to silence them is to keep winning.
