Whats the point in backing him any longer? He's had 2 and a bit seasons, and apart from the odd moment of good play he has been absolutely woeful.

Lazy, bad touch, dumb on the field....i could go on.

There comes a time when you just cut your losses.

Backing players just because they play for your club is idiocy. If they are ****, then get rid.

But not everyone agrees with you that he's '****.'

Some of us think he's a very talented player who is capable of doing a lot better than he has so far. It's clear he's a confidence player so the fans at the game supporting him could have a positive effect on his play. He can do things not many players can and last night showed that. The question is whether he can turn those flashes of brilliance into consistently good play. You don't think he can and fair enough, some of us think he has it in him. He's still just 22.

he hasnt been given a fair chance. He isnt a left winger, he is a forward yet 99% of his games for us have been on the left. The guy doesnt even have a left foot FFS.

Rafa bought him as he was - a striker and then tried to play him on the wing. babel even said that he was a striker but he would play anywhere for the team.

he is not a left winger - he doesnt think like a winger and doesnt have the tricks or the crossing ability to be a winger so why play him there.

Play him on the right but not the left.

Yet he scored his goal last night from the left.

He has a terrible first touch, runs into blind alleys, and generally makes bad decisions.......but he's fast i hear you say. Actually he's not. He is fast when he doesn't have the ball, but when he gets it, he is turns into one of our slowest players. I'd like to see these things that he can do that not many cant. If by that you mean smashing the ball around the goals , then yes he does have a powerful shot.....but so do many players.

Yeah, but, if he is on the left - he can cut in and onto this right, to unleash shots like last night's goal. I presume thats why Rafa plays him there? I still think he should ge give a go at playing in the middle.

He would be better than that car crash of a footballer Voronin........

He's a complete mess of a player - nearly battered my TV last night when he missed that sitter. I also couldn't help thinking back to him standing with his arms folded, totally expressionless - when N'Gog scored against the Scum. He's a total tube. Close the door on the way out Voronin - **** off.

I don't agree with that. I think his best position is coming in from the left and not every winger has to go to the touchline to be classed as such. He's a winger that drives inside from a wide starting position and when he's on top form (sadly we've only seen it on a handfull of occasions) he's unplayable. He also mostly played in that position for Ajax IIRC and that's the role he's had for the Netherland too.

I bet a lot of people would be surprised to hear he's scored 4 goals from 12 appearances this season. He could only have started 5 or 6 of those games too.

Yet he has 4 goals from not many more starts and a handful of cameos. Actually it might only be three, two sources I'm looking at have it differently. Still not bad for a slow player with a wild powerful shot who has absolutley nothing to offer as you seem to suggest.

The things he can do that not many can't is smashing it into the top corner from 25 yards and going past a man like he isn't there. I've already said he doesn't do it enough but the talent is unquestionable imo.

errr......he's played on the left for every team he has played for. He was a Left winger/forward at Ajax.

He doesnt have striker ability either

go on babel son. came on last night looked lively, attacked, passed was a man on a mission. it must be really hard to try and please someone who doesn't rate you even when you have all the talent in the world. he may have played left but he ended up more central and looked a real threat. thats why rafa MUST start play9ing him as a striker. thats what he can do.....score and create. give him a ****ing chance.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I thought he was wide left for most of his time on the pitch last night. He'll obviously get the opportunity to come inside from the left anyway because he's right footed. I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest he'd be better off playing as a centre forward. I also think Rafa does rate him but just gets infuriated with him at times.

We have 6 players that can do that Its a pretty rare occasion that he gets past his man.

He's not completely useless, but he will never amount to the player we need, and Riera is much more effective on the left.

Get rid while he still has a bit of value.

rafa cant possibly rate him when he continually overlooks him to start games in place of voronin or ngog. 12 mill he was and he shows signs of that when he gets longer than a 15 min spell to influence games. he not a defencsive player so why play him on the left when rafa uses the wide players to track back and defend. torres may be ****ed with injury so let him recover and give babel the front man position.

As long as he's playing for us we must back him, anything else is pure fickleness and doesn't deserve to be called a supporter IMO. You're as ****, supporter wise, as he's inconsistent on the field. Fans support their club and its players through thick and thin (unless the player doesn't give a ****).

Babel has loads of talent in the first place, you can't say he's got none of it. The failings that he has is with his character and maybe the fact that he allows his head to drop in face of adversity. He needs to grow some balls and accept the criticism and harness his talents. It's probably never going to happen here but I'll bet that he'll become a success at another club, where's there's less pressure.
