We criticize Babel saying that he is not good enough but is Kuyt good enough? How many important goals does he score? Is he capable of replacing Torres? Is he a Nicolas Anelka? No, no, no! Rafa is making a big mistake in persisting playing him always! Hopefully Ngog will be a better striker.

Kuyt plays regularly despite his total ineptness with the ball, because he works his socks off for the team. He runs himself into the ground game after game for the team.

If Babel did the same he would play, as he clearly has a bit more talent than Kuyt.

Whichever way you want to support (or slag off certain players) is a prerogative which you are entitled to but it doesn't mean you're doing it the right way IMO. I am not too sure that Babel can be tagged as being 'half arsed' when he's on the pitch as I'm pretty sure that Rafa won't tolerate things like this. He sees the lad in training day in day out and sees his performances on the pitch from much closer to us, so I think you are very harsh on your assessment of him. He is inconsistent though, and I don't think you will find many Liverpool supporters disputing that.

What I'm saying (and some others also) is that whilst a Liverpool player is considered fit (and good enough) to play for us by our manager, we should give him our full support until he's no longer wearing the shirt, independent of the fact that he's not 'to our liking'.

I remember you being incensed when most fans were having a go at Kewell, who apart from one decent season, did basically nothing during his stay on here, and he stayed for the full 5 years of his contract and was backed to the hilt by Rafa. Some had an opinion that Kewell never deserved to wear the red shirt because he was never able to be fit whilst playing for us and when he was fit, he never seemed to recapture his form. He was mediocre and below par as from his second season with us until his contract was terminated.

Why don't you do the same in Babel's case?

one look at last nights game told me that ryan babel should have started. he was tailored made for that game. surely if torres is out for 3 weeks with rehab babel will get his chance. IMO babel would have scored at least one last night if had been given the chance.

Because Kewell was injured..he had an excuse. When he actually played he was good.

Babel isn't injured...he's just a lazy *******, and when he actually plays/starts he is awful the vast majority of the time.

Highly debatable. I'd say he wasn't faring any better than Ryan Babel. I think you may be having double standards there.

                    He was far more effective.

Babel looked absolutely determined against Lyon. Came on and did the business, looked aggressive and confident.

So you would think Rafa would see the opportunity to boost his confidence and give him a start against Birmingham, a chance to keep going? But no, he gets left out again and any progress he made last week is gone again

I felt sorry for Ryan last night. When he starts looking like a proper player and meaning business, poor man-management by Rafa lets him down again. No doubt he will go back into his shell again now

I think Harvs Australian, that's the only reason he backed Kewell so much. But I think you knew that.

Yeah that's why I think he's not very objective on the matter.

i thought he scored a wonder goal then went back to type.

would have been tempted to drop kuyt yersterday and play babel he would of had a lot of joy against ridgewell

Kuyt scored alot of important goals for us last season. This season he hasn't been at the same level but I'm struggling to think of anyone in our team who has

He scored a great goal but aside from that the rest of his performance in that game was poor
