He persists with a football imposter, the very worst player I've ever seen in the premiership in Lucas *vomits*, he purchaches average players like Riera who was never going to do much, he rests our top players when they're fit in CASE they get injured and he destroys top talents like Babel and Keane in terms of confidence.

    He's a terrible manager.
Oh Nic, why resort to unnecessary exaggeration and hyperbole? It ruins any point you might be trying to make.

First, your list of attacking players - you forgot to include one minor player brought in to replace those by the name of Fernando Torres

Bellamy - was on a one-**** up and you're gone deal. And attacking team mates with golf clubs is a pretty big **** up.
Fowler - errr, well that one's not even worth addressing
Cisse - an absolutely terrible player. If he was in the prime of his career when he left then his abject failure at Marseille and Sunderland speaks volumes.
Crouch - Rafa made him. He wanted to leave to get guaranteed first team footy
Keane - well there is an argument there but he never looked like he could play with Torres

And as for Lucas being the worst player you've ever seen in the Prem - that's just a ridiculous statement. I'm not a major fan of his but seriously though, there's no need to be quite so silly.

I sometimes think about what we could buy with 100mill if we did sell Torres. I love to billions and would scream if he left, but with that money we could do ALOT of patching up. Like say bring in Villa, Silva, and maybe 3-4 others or good to decent quality. Right now we dont need 1 player. We need like...7.

Not saying we should sell him mind. Just that we're screwed some.

Thats why we'd conclude the deals before Torres was sold. I mean if we already know someone like City will throw 100mil at the beginning of the season or january, we work under that knowledge, tie up other transfers, and come january we toss the money to them that we get from Torres.

If Benitez had spent his kitty each year on 2 top class players instead of 7 6 million(ish) average ones(and moaned that he doesn't have funds to compete), Liverpool would be the team to beat regardless of his **** tactics.

For example - The year he signed Torres, who else did he sign? 5 or 6 players all of which have failed to bed a regular place I'd guess.

This summer, the signing of Glen Johnson was a huge positive and needed to be followed up by buying on a top striker but no, they get Kyrgiakos, bring back Voronin, promote Ngog, cement Lucas in the midfield and buy a couple of kids. I couldn't believe he didn't buy a striker. Even Sanli Tuncay was touted at a couple of million quid and he ends up at Stoke. Far better than Ngog or Voronin.

The Alonso situation was unfortunate but maybe wouldn't have happened if Benitez didn't make him feel so unwanted in the relentless pursuit of another mediocre player in Gareth Barry. When I was a regular on here I always banged on about Alonso being Liverpool's key man, ahead of Gerrard and Torres as he is the one who gets everyting going. I even started an interesting thread about it and I bet that thread would go a different way if it was bumped.

I concur but you should stop being so polite Mr Michael...the word " Silly" could easily have been changed to another word with the same meaning for example " You cock"

By the way I am still 100% behind Rafa on the basis that his five year plan has started this year ( now he has full control) and his hands are tied by 2 american SILLY people

And this is why forums are so boring, people like this joker trying to drive people away by throwing insults if other's opinion differs to their own.

I see Nicey the most obnoxious person I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with ha finally got some bans for his vitriol. Maybe this teenager should join him.

If you wouldn't say it in public, don't say it on a forum. I'd love to see what happens to people that attack others for offering an opinion in real life. In fact I have seen it and it's not pretty.

                thanks anyway Andrew18

I mean even within our own team we have seen Salif Diao - now that was a shocker!

I'm not a big fan of Lucas but we could do worse!

Keane was probably the only player I regret seeing leave because he never got a fair chance - but seemed like something was def wrong in his blending in to the squad.

I do feel the vote is silly, as I think you can support the manager without being behind his every decision.

Really though mate, what does Lucas offer. The guy (this may sound ott but it's true) regularly fails to even pass a ball 5 yards accurately, he more often than not makes an unclean contact with the ball when going for goal(he did it yesterday at the end of the match, he dit it in the Birmingham game when Ngog miskicked and the ball fell for him perfectly and he kicked the ground or something. He passes the ball into touch. He has no skill on the ball whatsoever and he doesn't really offer anything defensively either. Dioa was useless but this Lucas just takes the biscuit. I find myself absolutely baffled when seeing a guy like this making his crust at the very top level of the game.

Lucas' short passing game is actually very good. He certainly has his faults but saying he can't pass it wide of the mark (just like his appalling header at the death yesterday!)

In your other thread you are complaining that the back up 11 is too weak in this your saying instead of spending money on squad players we should spend more money on fewer first team players. You can only do one or the other

Buy a top striker with what? Kyrgiakos cost two million, Ngog was already here and Voronin cost nothing. We needed to bring in a centre back (all the injuries to centre backs have proved we needed to do so. So where does the money for this striker come from??
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He didn't pay £20m for Aquilani. It was £17m, from which only £4m were up front. He didn't have any money for a striker. None. Find me a team that would sell their top striker for that kind of package.

He doesn't always pick the team I would or play the formation I would bu I reckon there's probably a very good reason why he's in charge and not me.

He does sign some dross but generally speaking I can see how he expects the signing to progress us. Sometimes the signing doesn't work out - like Babel etc. Other times we're talking about a stop gap and it isn't fair to comment on whether it's a poor signing or not - e.g. Kyrgiakos - not a great player but a stop gap for 1.5m...

One thing that is difficult to defend is the amount of money he has spent. I know that he has raised a lot in sales too, but when you look at the total you wonder whether we shouldn't have a few more top class creative players in the squad.

I would say spend a bit more on quality rather than trying to cover every position with a limited budget. Having said that he probably couldn't do that before because the quality coming out of the reserves simply wasn't there, but hopefully everything is there to change that in a few years.

For that reason I would give him more time - to see his changes in the club as a whole come to fruition.
                                Really?
