Man U v Liverpool - Man for man

Okay now I don't follow Man U very much so I can't say this is their prefered 11 at the moment, I know Scholes should be in there somewhere, but not sure where he fits, probably more in a 4-3-3 or something. But if for arguments sake we went head to head with what looks like both starting 11's

    ---------------Reina--------------
    ---Finnan--Carra--Hyypia--Riise---
    -Gerrard-Sissoko-Alonso-whoever-
    -----------Kuyt--Bellamy---------

    ---------Rooney--Saha--------------
    -Giggs--Fletcher--Carrick--Ronaldo---
    ---Evra--Brown--Ferdinand--Neville---
    ----------Van Der Sar----------------

Who would you take over our own players like for like in position
I'd probably only take Rooney and Giggs, instead of Bellamy and whoever we choose deploy left at the time. Of course Rooney's not on form but I'm sure he'll find it (most likely against us).

Basically, I'm trying to decide if we have the better starting 11 regardless of form.

What's everyone else's thoughts on this?

Rooney bloody is on form, he's just missing a goal.
There is nothin which motivates him more than a match against us.

Okay he's not in goalscoring form, which for a striker is not good.

Thoughts are Manu are bang on form, we're not. Man for man comparisons are unfair if we have no cohesion.

Yer I know that, but I'm just thinking how many of their players would get in our starting 11 realistically.

On current form 9 would IMO.

Vidić plays in ManU defence. So they have 2 tall CDs.

I think that's ideal for Crouch, because he wouldn't be the one making fouls. If he's up against notparticularytall defenders, he gives away lots of free kicks, against strong ones he gets the free kicks.

Sorry but you'd have to take Ronaldo too. I'd rather have him on the right than Stevie. Get Stevie back into the centre where he belongs.

As much as it pains me, from them i would take:
                    Van Der Sar
                    Ronaldo
                    Giggs
                    Rooney

I would have Van Der Sar, Heinze, Giggs, Ronaldo and Rooney out of their best eleven that I think would get into our team,

I would say on paper we are pretty evenly matched.

Although on the pitch, they are far better than us at the moment, they play better football to watch, and have more exciting players than we do and score more goals.

They just seem to have more cohesion than we do as well at the moment and put better moves together to break opponents down.

I'm not sure about Van Der Saar, if you'd have asked me last season then definitely no, but based on season so far then maybe. As for Ronaldo I'm not sure what his goals and assists compared to Gerrard of last season are, but I doubt there's much in it, but again compared to this season then maybe. I don't know if Heinze would get in our side, seems to be far too injury prone, and it must unsettle their defence with the constant changing, and people say we change too much. Can't argue with Rooney, he would probably get into nearly every team in the world. Also is a fit on form Harry Kewell better than Giggs?

I agree more or less, defo more mancs in the side ....

                            VDS over Reina
Neville over Finnan (may be, although it hurts to say it)
                            Ferdinand instead of Hyppia
Carra instead of Brown (only just as Carra ain't been that great this year)
                            Riise instead of Evra
                            Giggs over whoever
Gerrard over Fletcher (I'd play gerrard in the middle)
                            Sissoko over Carrick
Ronaldo over Alonso (unfair compairson but with Steveie in the middle Ronaldo fits the right better, even thought he's a ****)
Rooney (over every striker we have, sorry but he's immense, even when he hasn't found his scoring touch)
Undecided betwen Kuyt and Crouch over everyone else the Mancs have got (Kuyt has got the class but Crouch is finding the net more and is on form)

                            That's 6 Mancs and 5 of us.

It's the width that United worry me with. I'd prefer to see a 4-4-1-1 formation instead of the 4-3-3 (mooted in the other thread) @ Old Toilet.

                            ................Reina
                            Finnan.....Carra...Hyppia... Aurelio
                            Gerrard ....Alonso....Sissoko....Riise
                            ..............................Kuyt
                            .................Crouch

                            Nice attacking bench .....

                            Gonzalez
                            Luis Garcia
                            Bellamy
                            Pennant

I'd take Van der Sar, Rooney, Giggs, and......Ronaldo. Hate the little cnut but he's a constant threat and has been great this season.
