It's often simple things...

...what would you change - just one thing.

For me, I would change having two defensive mids. Not controversial I know - dull in fact - but I would swap Lucas for Aqui. and give the lad remit to ferret forward. Nothing in particular against Lucas except that compared to Mascha he may as well stay at home.

Just don't see the point in two defensives. In fact it's barmy when you think about it. It hasn't stopped us conceding - are we that unsure about our defense?

I'm not convinced about the 2 DM's thing. If the 4 players in front of them were all of a certain quality and on form then the issue wouldn't be anywhere near as relevant. We're asking an awful lot of Aquilani to make that much of a difference on his own... and I also think we're over-emphasising the role of Alonso in retrospect.

Lucas & Masch has been a part of the issue doubtless, however we're just not enough of a consistent threat from the 2 wide areas, no matter who in the squad plays there, either in terms of creativity or pace, and our options upfront are criminally limited. And there's been the sudden loss of solidity in the defence. I'm really not sure I can choose between any of those as the biggest priority.
