Right now - the way things are and the way we look - i'd be ****ing estactic if we did that.

It's going to be a tough one to balance. I think we have to go out to win the thing - there is no sense in sending young players out with any other mentality if nothing else. So any team we pick will have to be based around an experienced spine but given the context of the rest of the season progressing young and squad players might well be the best thing to come out of this year. Hopefully we start playing better as a unit as that should make integrating the odd young player much easier.Originally posted by red g View PostWe have a great opportunity to give the likes of DArby and Pacheco a run out in these sort of games.....giving N'gog game time as well, COuld be very useful in there development"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

i wasnt advocating a yoof team. I think the above would be the best philosophy, we have to get our winning mentality back and the hunger, surely by winning this it will remind everyone involved with the team what its like to get a trophy again.
I can see it being a delicate balance towards the latter months of the season as although i am confident in getting a top 3/4 finish i do think that one oif spurs/villa or city may make a good effort to gatecrash the party_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

bit like last nights team / setup. pacheco and darby done well. keep that sort of line up but obviously include ngog, spearing and we should do okay.Originally posted by dww View PostIt's going to be a tough one to balance. thats the thing tho - i said it kinda casually - "well lads, right now i'd settle for 4th, the europa and the fa cup" - aeveryone mubled in agreement before we stopped and said "hang on - that would be ****ing amazing at the moment"
What the **** has happened - from thinking about a title challenge, not ever ever ever contemplating going out at this stage of the Champions league, and the europa and even fa not an issue - to this!

They are the ideal sorts of players to be getting time - we need added attacking flair and have no depth at all at right back so Kelly, Darby and Pacheco getting games could be a bonus that really helps us.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postbit like last nights team / setup. pacheco and darby done well. keep that sort of line up but obviously include ngog, spearing and we should do okay."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Does it really matter?
To win it you have to beat everyone so who cares if we're seeded or not?

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

it is really depressing at the moment.
three wins in 14 and i might be wrong but have we lost more games than we've won this season (9 losses in all competitions i think).
I hope to god rafa turns this around because we are in a real lull. The players look like they're lacking confidence and the younger ones like lucas, insua and ngog need the more experienced pros like carra and gerrard to help them through these games. The experience will no doubt improve them all immensely for the coming seasons and hopefully they will all go on to become top players.
However, despite all of the potential positives I havent been this down since we lost the CL final against milan.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

UEFA cup has 2 distinct recent memories for me
the bad, playing Arsenal at Anfield in the league and their fans singing "Channel 5" to us in reference to them being in The European Cup and us being in the UEFA Cup
the good, Dortmund was amazing, I'd happily take another European final, any European final

It's one round, it doesn't matter, Previously in Europe I' have fancied us to beat anyone on our day, the problem is that's not been the case so far this season, the games are a couple of months away if we can pick up our form in the mean time (as we need to) and if we play a full strength team in the Europa league, I don't see why there should be anyone we should fearThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Do you know what pi*ses me off? When i think of players like
Voronin, El Zhar, Lucas lifting the cup i think, hmm cool.
Then i think of the likes of Gerrard, Johnson, Masch, Carragher, Agger, Reina, Torres lifting the europa cup it does my nut in. If Rafa got us back in the top 4 we wouldn't even remember how bad this season was/is.
