I agree it's not his fault.

We've been **** with contracts for years and hopefully the new owners can sort that out.

I don't know how easy it is to do but in my opinion players wages should be a lot more loaded to performance related pay - basic plus bonus for playing, bonus for winning, bonus for final position in league bonus for trophies, **** it with the technology available these days you can even pay them for pass completes, passes made, interceptions, assists, miles ran etc.

I guess the problem is that all the teams in the Premier League need to look towards paying them the same way or they'll just take the easy option.

lol. That's so easy to say, but in practice its utterly ridiculous and unrealistic. If anyone here claims that in his position they'd give up on £2m just to get to play a bit of club footy in Belgium next season I'll call them a liar.

The guy has a contract, agreeing to pay him probably more in 3 years than he's earned in the entire rest of his career combined. Its not his fault we offerend him such a crazy deal. He's what, 29, so coming towards the end of his career, and if he moves like we want him to he'll probably be taking a massive pay cut. Like to the amount of about £2.5m over a couple of years. Not to mention that we'd probably be getting a transfer fee for him, even if not a huge one. So how can anyone blame him in the slightest for wanting the difference?
I was listening up to this point , then you lost me, as I'm rolling around the floor
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

You can call me a liar, but if i was a multi millionaire already and was that keen to play football at 29 years of age, then yes, i would give up on the £2m and go to Belgium.

            Nah!

You'd knock back your kids and grandkids' futures? You never know what's going to happen. Its not like he has any kinship or loyalty to LFC, he's a foreign player offered lots of money which means he'll be able to do whatever he likes for the rest of his life. This is his last payday. He's not going to pass that up for a couple of more years kicking a ball about for his enjoyment. These guys take every opportunity to feather their nests, its the old adage of being a short career.

Dont be daft, the millions already in the bank secure those futures already.

And i'm not sure how you can tell me 'nah' over something I'D do...

£2m is no small amount. You'll be telling me football is run out of love and played solely for enjoyment next.

I'm telling you that if i was in Jovanovic's position, a multi millionaire and wanted to play first team football, i'd walk away from it and go to Belgium.

You can keep thinking you know better than i do about what i would do...but you dont.

Ok, I wasn't reading it like that. I was reading it from the average seasoned professional's position with no club loyalty. Obviously you know better than me what you'd do!

You mustn't operate as avariciously as me

Indeed, very easy to say but lets be honest anyone who says it is kidding themselves.

Our fault, dont blame him for doing what he's doing. Thought he'd actually be a good signing but hopefully in the future we stay away from these ageing bosmans like him and Cole unless they really are brilliant players.

easy to say what you'd do in a hyperthetical situation, in real life there will be more to the decision.

We ****ed up, he signed a contract in good faith and he's well within his rights to hold us to it; I might not like it as a fan but I can certainly understand where he's coming from.

I love the way everyone else apparently knows better about what i would personally do, than i do.

It's also easy to say you'd cling on for £2m when you dont have a pot to piss in. As a multi millionaire, it's a different ball game.

Maybe you'd all fight tooth and nail to sit on the bench, hate the fact that you never play, but take the cash. That's fine. I wouldnt.

*awaits the next person implying that i dont know what i would do as well as he does*

Until you're faced with the situation I think you can't be sure what you'd do.

There are a few people who would do as you say but they are very few and far between. You may be one of them but the vast majority of people would not forego £2m.

And furthermore in this case, stripping away the emotion that supporters feel, why should he?

I think i know myself well enough to know what i'd do, but thanks all the same.

You talk of £2m but forget that you'd already have in excess of that stashed away anyway. So yes, i would forego the money if i had a desire to play football - the simple question is what the player values more, playing football or money. In this case, it's clearly money.

And why should he? Well as i said, if he wants to play football, bearing in mind he's 30 next birthday and wont have that many years ahead of him, then that's why he should. If he values sitting on the bench and taking the money like a mercenary, then he should do that. And that's what he looks like he values more, so fine. But in which case, the 'mercenary' accusations hold water.

It always makes me laugh when the people who earn about £10 - £15 an hour get high and mighty about what they'd do if they were millionaires. "Ooohh i'd give loads to charity", "Ooh I'd let another £2m go by just like that". And the fans of ****ty teams who are like "I'd rather earn 10k a week and play here than 100k a week and play at Man Utd." Yes, of course you would!

All easy to say when you're talking about being a millionaire from a position of having no money in comparison. The reality would be a hell of a lot different.
