      Craig's a millionaire footballer?

      Hello mert.

Yep and i'm gonna keep sitting on the bench like a useless piece of meat and counting my money.

You talk of £2m but forget that you'd already have in excess of that stashed away anyway. So yes, i would forego the money if i had a desire to play football - the simple question is what the player values more, playing football or money. In this case, it's clearly money.

And why should he? Well as i said, if he wants to play football, bearing in mind he's 30 next birthday and wont have that many years ahead of him, then that's why he should. If he values sitting on the bench and taking the money like a mercenary, then he should do that. And that's what he looks like he values more, so fine. But in which case, the 'mercenary' accusations hold water.
But it's not either or. He can get a deal that compensates him and at the same time allows him to move on for more regular football. And again, why shouldn't he?

No no no no! The argument is what Craig would do, not Jova!!

But you're correct of course, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I hear you, but it's not looking much like he can get both though at the moment.

You can keep thinking you know better than i do about what i would do...but you dont.
Even if that is the case, before you walked away, wouldn't you play a bit of briksmanship and get as much of a payoff as you could before going to Belgium? No one in their right mind would just walk away and forget their multi million pound contract.

Possibly, you might try and get a bit more than the 'first offer' as such. But i'd hope, come 1st September, he hasnt just said 'the full pay off or nothing'.

Jova is only 30 and can easily play at very competitive level in less physical league for next 5,6 years.

If he sits out his entire contract with us he can retire right now as no body except his boyhood Serbian club will take chance and resign him.

Also he still has plans to make a mark on Serbian national team (Euro cup, World cup etc.) and staying with us certainly doesn't do him any good.

Contract or no contract, unless he moves and takes some paycut he can kiss his footballing career good bye.

I think he'll go somewhere else to play football and for his own enjoyment, satisfaction and self respect, but that won't stop him trying to get as big a payoff as he can

this is hilarious. no one on here would turn down 2.5 mill in his situation. no one. i would expect as others have said that this is about the amount he's earned in his career to date in total - if not more.

further, he's not had a great experience here. that basically means he's got no loyalty.

sure its a negotiation point and we'll agree a compromise. but to just walk away? not a chance.

Spot on. It's not his fault he signed a lucrative contract.

As mostar said, he's kissing goodbye his football career for the sake of money, by sitting on this contract. Bravo.
