Sponsoring of the new stadium, and the right to have your company name associated with a global club like ours for 10-20 years...that'll be worth a pretty penny, more than enough to get the ball rolling. The rest will come from loans, and the stadium itself will be self-sufficient in that the revenuw from ticket sales etc will more than cover the loan repayments.

    That's my guess anyway.

About a 1/3rd of Arsenal's stadium build cost was provided exactly as you say by naming rights, sponsorship, outsourcing catering, etc. There was a podcast on the echo site about 6 months ago and the Everton CEO confirmed that is the basic model. He even went on to mention that things like WiFi access would be bid out.

Don't care what they call it, as long as its no longer than 10 years.

Something fitting or cool would be a bonus but for 30-50% of the build costs the buyers can call it patsy for all I care.

pretty sure it was in the papers gossip coloum on bbc teletext this morning that liverpool fans were up in arms in disgust over the decision to sell the naming rights for the new stadium. dunno what fans they been talking to cause 99% of fans i speak to and especially on here, the consensus is that we dont care so long as it gets built and we get the increased gate receipts.

Just out of curiosity what sort of deals have been obtained by other clubs for stadium naming rights?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don’t want to labour the point, but regardless of how famous Anfield is, regardless of how sentimental our fans our, I honestly feel that after a while everyone will recognise the new stadium under it’s new name, it’s human nature. It may even get to the point were people intentionally disassociate our new stadium and ownership from Anfield and everything it stood for. If the owners can agree with the new sponsors to somehow incorporate Anfield into the new name that will be a different story, but if it’s completely unrelated, the Anfield association will only last so long.

I’m not saying Anfield will be forgot about, of course it wouldn’t. The boot room was done away with, but people still talk about it’s traditions and values. Anfield will always be associated with LFC and vice versa, but people referring to ‘The Weetabix Stadium’ or whatever as ‘New Anfield’ will be short-lived if you ask me.

              Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.
I don't think everyone will adapt. There's always going to be the hardcore faction who refuse to acknowledge the new name and continue to refer to it as Anfield. It's not a bad thing though.

Naming the stadium is inevitable considering the money it will raise. I'd rather it not be a wanky name though, couldn't take the ribbing from my manc fan mates.

Of greater concern is the inevitable naming of a stand after Tom Hicks. That is something I don't think I could as easily accept.

Lodon were it moved its Headquartes to back in the 90's i think temporally to facilitate substantial Mergers and Acquisition deal, i believe.

But at the end of the day its a Bank or thee bank, the only British aspect of it, is it was formed in a old now defunct British colony, tenuous at best I would say.

Back on point .. I think Cathay Pacific has to be one of the main contenders if it is indeed an Asian Company
Nah. Hsbc holdings plc, the parent company, is a uk company on the ftse. Has been since the 90s when the move of the headquarters from hong kong was a perminent one. The move to the uk was partly becuse they owned midland bank, which was a large % of the total business at the time. Obviously, it has a huge operation still in hk, but also subsidiaries all over the world.

Anyway, there is zero chance of them sponsoring us.
