Would that not be Rafa's fault? That team should be more than capable of top 4, if not challenging for the title.Originally posted by Dhav View PostWhich is why we will go nowhere with these owners and why they need to **** off asap.

I agree it should be, but how much longer will this continue to be a top 4 squad when there is a chronic and consistent lack of investment in the playing staff while we are outspent in the transfer market by not only Man City but also the likes of Spurs and Villa?Originally posted by dom9 View PostWould that not be Rafa's fault? The yanks' business model is unsustainable IMO. Hicks' criticism of Man City's owners' were the words of someone who is running scared.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

This summer I think they bought in Warnock, Beye, Delph and Downing from the top of my head with most of the Barry money going on Downing. I'm not sure it is the direct head to head spend that is the sole factor here though - essentially to be a regular top four club you have to be able to compete in the PL and CL when challenged by three teams now who have the finances and and a squad who can compete one year to beat you to 4th. If you lose 4th then you lose income and potentially players and it is hard to get back.Originally posted by dom9 View PostAre Villa a foirce in the transfer market?
The problem is that without decent investment each summer you run danger that if you have a bad year which is always possible you will not make the CL the next year. We had an excellent first team + a few top options last year but we lost two starters and one excellent option (with two of these being key personalities in the group). Our squad is arguably no weaker when Aquilani and Johnson are fit but we are no stronger and were always going to have to have a transition period. We were light in numbers last year and this year injuries have exposed that."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
