Can you really see this happening?Originally posted by ronanm View PostI give RB until the end of the season. If we don't get into the top 4 then he should resign. Then, the new man (Hodgson, Hiddink perhaps).
Inter are after SG for £40m apparently. I'd take that at his age. On top of that, I'd flog:
Kuyt £8m - headless
Johnson £10m - useless at defending/injury prone
Aquilaini £8m - too weak
Riera £5m - too injured
Ngog £2m - too poor
Babel £8m - disinterested
Mascherano £25m - overrated
Skrtel £5m - a weak link
Benayoun - £8m - overrated
Which'd be £119m to rebuild, with the board throwing in another £50m. That's get us c. 8 £20m players. At least, then, we'd clear some of the deadwood and start again. Thank God Utd are dreadful too (albeit 2nd). Spurs have a strike force of Pavlyuchenko, Keane, Defoe, Crouch - compare that to us. We need a complete rebuild. Alec Ferguson is not afraid to make wholesale changes of this ilk. I don't think Benitez is a strong as that.
I think some of the players you have listed are still class its just they've hit a bit of a slump, they need more direction, Rafs's man management style clearly isn't working anymore!'The tide is very much in our court now.'

*sigh*Originally posted by el matador View Posti dont think theres any question that rafa has lost the support of gerrard. Torres will remain loyal to him because he signed him and turned him into a superstar but Gerrard doesnt want to play for rafa any more.
To be fair he has saved rafa's bacon on about twenty occasions and is probably why rafa is still our manager.
In which case he should hand in a transfer request and do one. As the captain of the team he should be leading by example instead of sulking around on the pitch. What effect do you do you think his attitude is having on the players on the pitch, when they are looking to him for leadership?
He may have won us matches in the past but he ain't above critiscm and if he is undermining rafa then he needs to be shipped out.Liverpool FC re-established 15th October 2010

You mention that Johnson and Riera are too injured, it's a little harsh judging them soley on this season, Gerrard and Torres have probably missed about the same number of games as through injury as Johnson, should we sell them too then? Ok Riera had some knocks last season but played alot of games, Johnson played most of season for Portsmouth.Originally posted by ronanm View PostI give RB until the end of the season. Aquilani has played a handful of games give the guy a chance!
Ngog has been getting alot of unfair critisism this season. His record has been pretty good, admittedly he shouldn't be our 2nd option after Torres, but that's not his faultThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If he has lost the dressing room just because of bad results then the players are a bunch of fickle, short memoried cunts and need to take a look at themselves instead. they play for liverpool football club because of rafa, therefore they should be eternally grateful and play for him even more BECAUSE results are bad and because he needs them.
However i don't think he has lost the drssing room. I believe we are having a freak season. What can go wrong, has gone wrong. That is all.
And I am very worried about Torres. 12 more months to sort out injury problems or time to cash in. Makes no sense having a player we depend on so heavily who is never fully fit.

Has he ever actually 'had' the dressing room. Everyone knows Rafa's man management is average at best. I've always thought the loss of Paco made a considerable difference on this front. It seemed to me he was always the man inbetween.“…Slip like Freudian, your first and last step to playing yourself like accordion.”

But we had our best season after Paco left, Rafa (or someone in the backroom staff) must have done something right last season, as we were getting the best out of the players then.Originally posted by squaddie View PostHas he ever actually 'had' the dressing room. For the record I'm not suggesting you are right or wrong (I don't know) I just think it's a point worth noting. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I totally agree. Just the sort of challenge that man thrives on.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postanswer to the question for me is yes, rafa has lost the dressing room. you must wonder what the good players think being sent out with pretty negative tactics and distinctly average players. if i was playing for the club right now i'd be questioning rafa's role at the club.
as a fan will suppport rafa and the team for however long he is in charge but if i was owner / chariman i'd be moving heaven and earth to get jose mourinho in as gaffer.
