so you agree with Rafa that when confidence is down play more defenders and let the attackers creative players sit on the bench.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostIt was a team with low confidence and little option.
I would think that with the amount of goals shipped this season it should be the defenders sitting on the bench regaining their confidenceJacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

We were playing Stoke!! Not Man U away or somrthing like that...Originally posted by Shaggy View PostYou take such a myopic view it's untrue, particularly with statements like this.
How can you fail to see the bigger picture? We had to go there to roll our sleeves up and fight like ****, something we've not seen from our lot for too long. That's what happens at Stoke, they drag you into a battle and if you don't stand up to it you lose. You are deluded if you think we were gonna go all out attack, start with Maxi who signed about 48 hours ago FFS, a not-yet-fit Aquilani who was absolutely bollocksed for the last 40 minutes or so the other night, and little Dani Pacheco.Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

Exactly, Stoke - who kick you from pillar to post, continually lump high balls into the box and down the channels, get in your face and have a mental crowd behind them. And in our form, with the sort of spiritless, gutless and passion-free displays we've seen so many of, we had to get back to basics and stand up to the fight. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

To think we'd go to Stoke and not try and fight fire with fire is crazy given the run we're on. Tactics today were pretty much spot on from Rafa given the injuries and what have you - it wasn't a game for Aquilani to start and there were precious few other options available to him. I'm not a fan of the Mascherano/Lucas axis but in that type of game it helped us.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

Looks like I stand with only one or two others that thought we were tripe again.
We scored from a free kick that wasn't via a juggled ball from their keeper - such class!
Our defense was on top form again to allow their (inevitable) goal.
Aqui on the bemch for 80% of the game, Maxi for 70% when we were screaming for imaginative play! (and then Rafa sub Ngog!)
Felt a bit crap for Lucas with the card - though a pen was not owed to us.
Nice to see Masher back in the ring also.
Other than that I saw nothing else to feel positive about at all from this game.

Not only did that prick of a ref **** that decision up Lucas will now be suspended and IMO has been one of our best players this season that means Aqua will fill in there and Kuyt gets another game up topOriginally posted by sssiho View PostHow on earth did Lucas get booked for that?

I thought you needed 10 yellows to be suspended now, surely he doesn't have that?Originally posted by andrewces38 View PostNot only did that prick of a ref **** that decision up Lucas will now be suspended and IMO has been one of our best players this season that means Aqua will fill in there and Kuyt gets another game up top

Just read the match thread. **** me.
I am nowhere near Dirk's biggest fan but the reaction that miss was appalling. "Hate him", "should be sacked", "what a cunt" etc etc. For ****s sake. It was about an inch from going in and had it done so Dirk would've been lauded as the late hero again, as he was so often last season. He's been abysmal so far this season but there is no excuse for the sort of **** flung his way.Originally posted by badpiggysickened but even more sickened at the response to kuyts miss - that was millimeters away from being goal of the season and typifies our season in every possible wayThanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

We were never, ever, EVER gonna go there today and play champagne football. The performance IMO was just what the doctor ordered. FFS we showed heart, guts and some ****ing fight for once. I've been wondering if those players cared, especially after Reading, and now I know they do. They really do. So in that sense I'm pleased.
Reina was outstanding, as were Lucas and Kyrgiakos. Skrtel was much better, as was Insua.
We got back to basics and put some foundations in place to move forward. I had no confidence for the Spurs game and today has given me some. Should've won anyway after that utterly disgraceful decision from that CUNT LEE Mason...and how did Dirk miss that at the end (what a ball from Fabio too)?
Agree 100 % yee Citeh 1 down
