You're the one having a laugh, you don't post often and when you post it's generally some ludicrous ones with numerous examples in this thread.Originally posted by 5europeancups View PostI admire your positivity, but juding by the number of times you post I think you are just having a laugh...

The Brazilian was shocking, with no moment worse than when he very obviously decided against going into a physical challenge with Marouane Fellaini. Good, strong management."

1855: Oh, the ignominy. At £32m, the most expensive footballer in the history of the British game, Robinho - who came on as an early sub for Man City - has been hauled off and replaced by Shaun Wright-Phillips. Of course, Robinho goes straight down the tunnel. On his way out.
1852: Shaun Wright-Phillips is stripping off on the Manchester City bench. Such early substitutions - is Roberto Mancini like the anti-Rafa Benitez?Another MASSIVE game

I've been very critical of the team and Rafa this season and I just watched the entire game without knowing the score. I'm genuinely surprised by some of the reactions on here. Calvoboy's summary of the game is spot on. Stoke away is never an easy game and we were a sniff from winning it. The team that was out there was on paper one of the worst starting 11's we've seen in many years and when I saw it I was dreading the game. Essentially we had 6 defenders and 2 DMs playing.
But, I was actually surprised with how well we played. It was a war out there and all but one player put his heart and soul into that game. Absolutely no Reds fan can question the effort of that team today. It was never going to pretty at Stoke but I've never seen united or chelsea or arsenal go there and play wonderful football either. If you try that you lose. Rafa selected the exact correct team and nearly won it. Fair play to the lads for the effort. With the Spurs and City results that may actually end up being a point gained.
Lucas, a player I've slated on many occasion, was my MOM. These games actually suit him. He was everywhere and never shirked his duties. The Greek wasnt far behind. In "prettier" games they might be limited players, but come on lads, credit where it's due. Reina was also superb under the arial bombardment.
Of course there are disappointing aspects. Once again we tried to hang onto a one goal lead and payed the price. To Rafa's credit he was trying to get the back line to push up all match but the concession of silly corners killed us.
The other big problem for me was NGog. Thought he was dreadful today. The defence was under so much pressure at the end and we needed a striker to hold to ball up and ease the pressure on the defence. David NGog is not that man. Way too lightweight, didn't jump with the defenders most of the time and his first touch was shocking for a professional footballer. Couldn't hold up a gust of wind this lad. Maybe he has potential, but I can't see it. He's out of his depth in this league. We need to buy a decent striker this window. Even Kenwyne Jones might do!
Not going to say much about the miss at the end, but it was a bad miss.Last edited by vonk; 16-01-10, 09:06 PM.

Not sure about Ngog at all. I accept it's been a tough introduction for him but if a player doesn't have a good first touch at 20, is he going to develop one? I don't know is that something that can be developed. I think you either have it or you don't. It's the reason why Kuyt is not a good striker and why I don't think Ngog can be. We really needed him to hold the ball up today and give the back four a breather but it was poor touch after poor touch. The next two weeks decide our season. If we get a decent striker in we may sneak 4th.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostGreat post vonk, exactly how I feel.
About Ngog....I think he's got something but he's had to shoulder a huge burden this season, much more than I'm sure we had planned for him. Therefore I find it difficult to criticise the young lad.

I'm with Vonk and shaggy on this one , I felt we was robbed by a pathetic excuse for a referee and we did show fight at a very difficult place .Im definatly on rafa's side at the moment but we DO need a striker and fast , by the way Kuyt is on a fast downhill spiral and needs a breakYou Can Lead A Horse To Water , But A Pencil Must Be Lead!

I'm not normally one for complaining about officials but by **** we've had some ****e decisions go against us this year.
Not a chance that an Arsenal/Man U/Chelsea player would be booked like Lucas was.
It was a stone dead, nailed on penalty - even the whole bunch of Sky monkeys thought so and that speaks volumes. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
