    Kyrgiakos

Since his first appearance in the reserves I've liked this bloke. There's something extremely likeable about his attitude and his no-nonsense defending. He was great at Stoke as I thought he would be, but I also thought he'd struggle against a side like Spurs. **** me he proved me wrong tonight. I love this fella!

I'm not getting carried away, he'll never be a world beater but he's a potential cult hero. There are mistakes in him as his defending is a bit...er....borderline, at times, but better than than some coward who doesn't want a scrap. He ****ing bulldozes into his headers - I feel like roaring and beating my chest every time he ploughs through someone to head it miles clear

Fair play to him. We were never gonna get someone as good as Sami for £1.5m but he looks a good replacement so far. He should start at Wolves.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He has been great the past two games and has the no nonsense defending the sami had. Not that i am comparing the two. But he is really starting to show his abilities.

Good man Shaggy - nice post.

Agree totally with everything you've said here, what we need is somebody how is going to take the attitude "right, **** this, let's drag us back up to where we need to be, and show some fight".

The big Greek ticks all those boxes with his last 2 performances.

          agreed

he has his limitations and is prone to a howler but he will never hide and is the type of player/bloke who seems to revel in a brawl - a backs to the wall, in the trenches player which, sadly, is just what we need at the minute

If he had better feet he would be a really good defender.

In saying that though he's a good old fashioned centre back who never shirks a challenge and is a beast in the air.

Crouch seemed to be scared ****less of him at times.

More of the same would be great

he cut his left eye on Saturday and couldn't wait to get back on, couldn't see alot of other players (who i'll not mention) doing that.

                  Songs for Kyrgiakos anyone?

Should keep his place, it's not as if the others have been playing blinders. He's given two centre half performances as good (better infact) as ive seen from the other 3 this season.

Quality performance tonight by the big man, he's certainly no flange and he's not afraid to put his head in. He's also good at getting in the opposition box too, reminds of Sami a bit in that sense.

Hope he stays for a few years and becomes a good player for us.

Just one other thing, I believe the back four should consist of Carra at right back, Skyrtel and the big man at centre with Agger at left.

                      Just thought I'd mention that.

                          Agree Shaggy.

He's prone to the odd error (though what defenders aren't?!), but he's absolutely no nonsense. Mopped up everything today and played well on Saturday too. He was also very good against Lyon.

Also, he could take over Sami's mantle of being our four or five goals per season defender. Scored at the weekend and could've had a couple today.

Needs to sort his hair out though

It's not a bad suggestion. It wouldn't certainly give us more stability and a very strong, mean defence.
