Do you not think, at the very least, that he'd have us in the top four comfortably this season?
Exactly craig there is no proof he can do it without money. Rafa has been delving in the 6-7 million player Market on the whole and got us in the cl mix the last four years with last year a good second.

Did gooners rant about changing managers when they were struggling for fourth after 4 years of nothing?

Pezzzer mate, you are asking a lot on here if you expect people to be able to think outside of short termism.

Exactly. Although part of me would like to see him come in just to find out once and for all!

There's no proof he cant either.

Oh...except Porto. Who arent the biggest, nor most successful club, nor richest club in portugal.

Ahh yes, the mighty Porto! Other than a tight uefa cup win against Celtic I don't see your point ?
Unless your comparing his reign there to rafa at atletico were in a million times harder league he managed to win la liga with a poorly budgeted side against europes other big guns.

I couldn't even tell you how well Porto do in there league as tbh it's on par with the SPL in terms of quality so other than residents, the world would not care.

What on earth was your point with that refference craig?????

Come on people, let's be positive. Rafa is still the man!! He's gonna get us fourth this season and next season we are going to do the Quadruple!! On a side note, I think Lucas should get PFA young player of the year, he's been awesome for us this year.

But is the owners did get rid of Rafa, what about bringing in Steve McClaren to manage us? I think he would be a good choice. What you all think?

Porto has been the most successful side in modern times in Portugal though, and he did inherit a league winning side at the time. But that takes nothing from him in winning both the CL and UEFA cup with them - a massive achievement with a team from a minor european league.

Mourinhos record speaks volumes whatever you say about the teams he inherited and got to invest. Many managers has faulted at winning with a league winning side and one that invested well comparatively, take Souness and Evans as just two examples from our own backyard.

Other good examples would be the barcelona sides after van gaals first period and Queiroz after Del bosque. No matter what type of backing you get and what team you inherit you still need to be a top manager to get results out of the team. Whether Mourinho would get a better result if he where appointed instead of Rafa five years ago is all hypothetical and contrafactual history so impossible to say.

If Rafa is to leave at some point by his own choice or because of the results, I would be happy with Mourinho getting appointed.

If Rafa goes there simply isn't a better replacement.

Mourinho is a born winner, just like Shankly, Paisley and Fagan.

If that what it takes to make this club great again, i'd take him in a heartbeat.

Mourinho,i'd have him as our manager, but i want Rafa to turn this ****ty season around and go on to take us to many league titles/fa cups/carlings/champions league titles.

                        SORT IT OUT RAFA.

The point is, he won title after title, at a club which isnt the biggest, nor richest, did it with his own assmbled team and won the CL too.

So it proves the theory about only doing with money, wrong.

Not sure when Rafa was at 'Athletico' (sic).

Nor why you felt the need to use 5 question marks. Your way of adding emphasis?

Disagree with me on Mourinho all you want, but to say he's only ever won stuff with big budgets, is factually incorrect.
