I agree about looking more solid at the back. Thank goodness that's improved. And i also agree that this is the first step in turning things around.

Regarding the playmaker thing - yes to a point, but taking last night as an example - we shouldnt need a world class playaker to create chances against Wolves. The players we have are capable of doing that, but they're held back by restrictive instructions.

Do you know what summed it up?

Reading away, FA Cup tie. We equalise. The camera switches to the bench. We're playing at a dreadful Championship side who are in a woeful run of form. We were PL runners up last season and have a side which is a million times better than their's.

So you'd think our mentality would be, having got to 1-1, make our class count and take it to them.

So what's Rafa's gesture and instruction?

    "Compact! Compact!"

I don't think there's anything wrong with being 'compact' mate and certainly when he knows that our confidence is fragile and we haven't been able to put the game to bed. It's just a mental thing, that we have to preserve what we have, rather than having to 'coast' to the end of games with a cushion, which we've never really been able to do this season. All so frustrating.

How about forgetting 'coasting' and just pressing forward to outplay ****ty Reading, with our vastly better players?

I dont think you're ever going to see where i'm coming from on this one, mate. No worries though

Oh I fully understand your point, that Rafa is cautious at heart, but as I said it's because (in Reading's example), they were a team in the ascendency which already had the better of us. They scared the **** out of us in the last 10-15 mins and took complete control of the game. Rafa doesn't have that instinct to 'go at them and prove a point' though, maybe it's because he's the type of studious continental manager.

He's like the second coming of Sacchi. I'm sure that Milan side actually finished one season with only about 12 goals conceded!

Wish he'd win as much too

Craig please, u are so anti rafa but you are trying to be clever. Welcome one and all the new DJS

personally, i loved mourinho whem his porto team beat scum in the CL, was suspicious but intrigued when he threw the CL medal into the crowd after the final, ****in hated him when he was chelsea manager and i thought with 100% conviction that he was a blight on football particularly after the anders firsk incident and the ambulance incident...

but his public absence, a ****ty season and noone else on the horizon to potentially replace rafa - WHO I WANT TO STAY AND TURN THINGS AROUND - have lead me to soften my position. and i reckon we're the job he's holding out for.

I'm as 'anti Rafa' as you are anti women. So you can decide how anti-rafa i am

I'm pro LFC mate and struggling to finish in the top 4 isnt good enough.

Is it good enough for you?

If we got Jose i would be very, very excited. His record speaks for itself, yes he has always had financial backing - but you cannot say he doesnt get the most out of his team - something we need desperately.

Would be a better option than rafa imo. btw i am not slagging rafa.

I would be very, very depressed and I think it'd make us look rather foolish. From the Kop's public enemy number one, with 45,000 at Anfield gleefully chanting '**** off Mourinho' one minute, and the next minute getting giddy about him and calling him our saviour.

I understand why people think they'd like him here, but the prospect makes me feel ill.
