I thought that if a player playes in UEFA before Christmas he can play in CL afterwards, so would imagine it's vise versa.

I can only guess it's because Atletico are also in the UEFA cup with us.

I don't think this is going to hit me until we start seeing the CL adverts on TV. We're used to reaching the last 16 of the CL these days so this is sickening

Anyway, I said a few months back that we should be looking at 4th, winning the Europa League and having a good FA Cup run. Well, **** the FA Cup run - but finishing 4th and winning the Europa League... very much so. Why not?!

Not when you're Liverpool, we've won **** all in 4 years(nearly) so any old trophy will do.

And if AM hadn't also been knocked down to the Europa League, he would have been fine to play for us...but as they are now in here with us, the chance of us meeting is there, so it would represent a conflict of interests to have Maxi playing.

I said similar until we met the immovable object that is Reading in the cup.

I think we are really really struggling - i have said that if we didn't sign a striker in the window then we won't finish 4th and i am going to stick by that. I just can't see it.

But, if however something ****ing mental happens and we start playing some decent football and go on a 10 game winning streak - then if we managed to finish 4th and win the europa that would be one hell of a turnaround.

Ideally - i'd like to see us progess throught the europa using a mix of first teamers and youth - it'd be good for the club to get to the final with the likes of pacheco, eccleston, darby, spearing, ngog all featuring.

We have a chance of winning it but there are strong teams in the competition so we shouldn't assume we should win it, I think we sometimes fall into the trap of thinking everything comes to us if we show up.

The way we have been playing and due to the fact we HAVE to get fourth I think the following teams, at least, will pose a threat.
