    Arsenal build up

Massive game, and as things are at the moment, we're full of confidence whilst they're on a major downer. Great opportunity for us. Gutting that Nando's out though.

We've been so defensively sound of late, completely organised at the back and brilliantly drilled. Arsenal's last two games against United and Chelsea have exposed how difficult they find it to play through such a defensive setup and how vulnerable they are to quick, incisive counter attacks.

We're perfectly equipped to go and do that to them, as did Chelsea and United.

Our only problem is that, without Nando, we lack that thrust, power and pace to hurt them on the counter.

United had Rooney - powerful, quick and clinical.

Chelsea had Drogba - exactly the same.

We have Nando - but he's out. That's where we'll struggle.

We can contain them and frustrate them, but when it comes to hitting them on the counter, we lack the necessary tools to make it count. N'Gog's quick, but not powerful enough, clinical enough or experienced enough to hurt them.

It's a real shame, because at full strength, we could've gone there and turned them over.

    I'd go with

    Reina

    Carragher Skrtel Agger Insua

    Mascherano Lucas

    Kuyt Gerrard Riera

    N'Gog

    Subs:
Cavalieri, Degen, Darby, Aurelio, Aquilani, Maxi, Babel

It'd be tempting to play Gerrard alongside Mascher, leave out Lucas and play Aquilani off the front man. But Lucas has proven to be very useful when you're looking to be solid, well organised and difficult to beat. He's very competent in this system, with this kind of game.

Pace on the counter will be the key for us, or maybe try to nick a goal on a set piece. I think Rafa may alter his formation a little bit to counter Arsenal's pace on the flanks, possibly Aurelio coming in for Riera in your formation.

We dont HAVE pace going forward though. Apart from N'Gog.

If we play Aurelio instead of Riera, we're then basically only fielding 3 players with any kind of goal/attacking threat. That'd be far too negative IMO.

Ngog is not really pacey is he? The only pacey player would have to be Babel.

Think the team picks itself other than Maxi or Riera on the left. Personally I'd go with Maxi as I think he and Insua worked well as a combo yesterday and I was impressed with Maxi's willingness to get back and help. He was near invisible in an attacking sense but I think that'll come.

I like Riera and think we're a better side when he's in it, but Insua will need protection on Wednesday and I'd keep the midfield shape/personnel as it was yesterday.

I think that's the formation that Rafa will employ. N'Gog seems to have improved his ability of holding the ball up of late but we must be quicker into supporting him. Lucas can be a key player in that sense, as well as Stevie. Lucas had one or two moments when he seemed to have a lot of space in front of him yesterday.

This is now a must win game for Arsenal, if we win we're only 2 points behind them with the same games played, which would give city the chance to jump into 3rd with their 2 games in hand. I think the pressure is on Arsenal, not on us.

I think we'll miss Kyrgiakos is defence, he's been playing really well in the last few games.

I've been loving Kyrgiakos but I don't think we'll miss him in the slightest at Arsenal - he wouldn't have many headers to win and would get pulled all over the place.

Lets ****ing have them! Only reason they beat us at Anfield was because of the own goal really plus we didn't take our chances in the first half. This is one of the poorest Arsenal teams i have seen in a long time. Yeah they look good going forward but if we do what chelsea did to them today we can win!

First goal is crucial. If we get it they play right into our hands, if they get it we're potentially ****ed. That said, if we did concede first we're more than capable of clawing it back..not ideal though

Basically, if we score more than them - we should win.

Take Arshavin out of the game and we should be ok.

Aurelio for Riera and Craig has the team.

I'm seriously concerned about Carragher and Insua being our full backs for this game though. No better alternatives but if Wenger is smart enough (which he isn't), he'll put Walcott on the right, Arshavin on the left and let them run rings around us.
