Aqualani for gerrardOriginally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postgiven his decent showing against the small team on saturday, i'd like to see us attack arsenal on wednesday with all guns blazing and give babel a chance from the start up top with ngog.
ngog showed some good hold up play at the weekend but he hasnt got the pace or the skill to be a real attacking threat on his own. babel showed he can control his natural game and do a defensive job as rafa obvioulsy asked him to do and just chase down defenders and track back but he is more naturally suited to an open attacking game. he is instn suited to a defensive lone striker role and as such with ngog doing the target man stuff and babel doing the speed / skill / attacking stuff they would cause arsenal quite a few problems IMO.

I agree with the point about attacking with pace on the break and wonder with that in mind if Degen might feature on the right as he's seemed really quick in previous games, the only problem with that is who to leave out to accomodate him? It can't be Gerrard or Kuyt which leaves Ngog, who is our only other quick attacking player. That give the possibility of using Ngog when Arsenal are starting to tire, but is a little harsh on him as I thought he did well in the DerbyThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think we should be positive and target their fullbacks who have been poor of late.
While potentially Walcott is someone to worry about of late he has been poor. I think we have a problem compared to United and Chelsea in the fact that without pace it is hard to break against Arsenal at times. Keep their wide players deep and we should be fine. Allow them to isolate players one on one near our goal and we will struggle.
I'm torn as to whether that should mean a team similar to that used against Everton - i.e. defensive midfield but with Maxi and Gerrard as a link to attack capable of keeping the ball and Kuyt as a longer outlet along with Ngog. Alternatives might include Kuyt up top with Aquilani in midfield with Riera, Gerrard and Maxi behind him. I'd think it will be closer to the former. Although Riera might get in for Maxi."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Both very good points.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI agree with the point about attacking with pace on the break and wonder with that in mind if Degen might feature on the right as he's seemed really quick in previous games, the only problem with that is who to leave out to accomodate him? Only problem is Kuyt up front on his own, as i dont think he's suited to that role.

No I agree with that, which is why I couldn't think of a team line up that included everyone in suitable positionsOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostBoth very good points.
