    The "Why" thread.

Why are we starting with a 3/4 choice striker whilst playing the second choice striker on the right wing.

Why are we playing a right winger on the left wing, with our left winger sat on the bench

why did we pay 15m Euros for an attacking midfielder and leave him on the bench untill he is match fit.

Why is the world's best midfielder babysitting a 3/4 choice striker instead of dictating play in the centre of midfield.

Why is an International fullback sat on the bench and a young kid is constantly starting before him.

Why is our team always set up, to stop the other team playing instead being set up so they worry about us, not us worry what they are going to do.

Why does Carra constantly hoof the ball.

Why do we never win the second ball after Carras hoof, with the result that the ball comes straight back at us.

Why, when not under pressure do our defenders head the ball out straight to an opponent instead of chesting the ball down, bring it under control and pass the damn thing.

Why is Kuyt not starting upfront every game??? when he plays as striker, he tends to score.

Why indeed. I can understand your frustration on almost every single one of those points tbh. The Carra hoofs especially... so not the Liverpool way.

      1. I think your first question can easily be answered by the fact that Kuyt is not our second choice striker - he has hardly played that position for 2 years now. In reality N'gog is Rafa's second choice striker while Kuyt might be yours in FM.

      2. That has to do with Rafa opting for playing an inside forward rather than a winger yesterday, and I have to say that the left side where quite decent yesterday - much better than the right side.

      3. ??? no answer

      4. I think yesterday showed again how much more dangerous we are when having a midfielder that can and have the confidence to play long passes to the forwards on the side, and I really don't understand why we don't try it for a few games. Last season it was fine because Alonso could do the same in passing ability allowing Gerrard a more attacking role, but with lucas/mascher instead it doesn't work.

      5. Because Insua actually plays well and just have become a scapegoat?

      6. Agree completely, and depressing type of game to watch.

      7. because he lacks the ability to do otherwise I guess.

      8. because our single striker is to isolated when clearing the ball leaving none to pick up the ball, basically because more or less everyone defends in our team.

      9. Don't think that is a general thing in the team

The thing is we actually have players who can move it around and play a bit. Yet time after time we seem to resort to these pointless hoofs down the flanks or up top. It is just utterly depressing to watch. I blame Houllier... he killed the football philosophy of the club and that is how I will always remember him.

Last night Arsenal were lacking confidence coming off 2 defeats, we were on a roll, the team selection screamed for:

            Degan---Skrtel-----Dagger---Aurelio

            Maxi------Mascher---Gerrard---Riera

            --------Aquilani

            ---------------------Kuyt

I think Insua's done very well in the last few games. Also, out of the two, isn't Insua the full international?

Aqualani was unwell so wasn't even on the bench and Degen would have been a massive worry playing the whole game at full back away against Arsenal. Insua had a good game and has been playing well for a few weeks.

Since it's a why thread I'll keep it going:

Why does Rafa always wait too long before making a positive change, when it's plain to see what's needed?

Why the constant hoof, the cb's should have several options in bringing the ball out, pass it to the fullbacks, Lucas/Mascher or Agger who can bring it out a bit.

Why do the manc's keep getting the O.G.'s?

Hmmm. That's it really. Want to keep it on record that I support Rafa and I rate Insua and Lucas before my criticism is discarded on that basis.
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Aquilani isn't playing because he isn't match fit, last week in his football focus interview he said he was still feeling pain, and has said previously that being rushed back at Roma was a major factor in his current injury situation.

Given the delicate nature of our season up to this point we can't afford to be carrying passengers, and an unfit player who isn't used to the English game would be a passenger. It would be unfair on the team and on him.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

lucas/mascher has been the main reason for our ****e football this season. Even when they inidividually do well, it is so limiting and means we don't build up pressure around the box. ****s me right off.

That sounds very plausible and at the form the team had shown without him, it would also be a gamble putting him in the team.

                              Quite frustrating that one.

It's as if he has no confidence in anyone on that bench being able to change the game.
