I heard Ian Hunter, reporter in Spain, talking on Talksport yesterday afternoon about the Spainish title run in and at the end they asked him about Jose going to Madrid .... He said that he is having talks about taking over Real next season but also had talks with an English Prem club, he said he wouldn't give the name but that they were in the Europa League next season, are up for sale and have ownership issues and that if they sort out the sale issue and have money available that he would drop all other offers, including Madrid, to take the Manager's position at this club .......

There are two other big managerial jobs up for grabs in Italy, both good options for Rafa. Can't see ant new owners wanting to keep him here.

i feel like if they were dead set against having him at the club they'd have sacked him already.

its not a question of sacking him cause we have no money available to spunk out on him ( 16 mill i'm led to beleive ? )

its more a question of will rafa walk and the answer to that is simply yes......he would. he has before when his situation at valencia became untenable and the situation at anfield will go the exact same way without new owners - who i beleive will want to bring in a man of their own.

I dont doubt his pedigree as a manager, I do question whether he is right for us. If he does come it ll probably be on the back of some multi billion takeover and he ll get a wad of cash to spend. Money that i would personally rather be allocated to Rafa to spend after keeping us competitive through out the yank tenure.

You're right to question whether he's right for us. Certainly, whether he's right for the modern day Liverpool. The Liverpool of the 70s and 80s, which gobbled up titles, would've been perfect for him.

The Liverpool of today, the also-ran club which (reluctantly?) accepts it's no longer on the top table? Certainly not right for him.

He's a winner who thinks big and with ambition - and our club sadly isnt.

I've said all along that Mourinho doesnt just look at LFC with respect, he looks at us with awe. He'd walk over hot coals to manage us and the only thing stopping him is the yanks. I dont base my views on hope or desire, merely on what Mourinho himself has said or written. I've read tonnes about him and he absolutely adores the LFC institution, more so than any other in terms of its size, heritage, prestige and honour.

Yes he's highly paid but every top manager is and i'm convinced he'd take a sizeable wage cut to manage us. After all, we might not be able to offer the same as Madrid, but it's not like we'd be paying him £20k p/a either.
