If Rafa was to leave, our realistic options to replace him are probably O'Neill, Roy Hodgson and the likes.

They're good managers in their own right but i dont think too many Pool fans would be excited to see either of them take over.

Because they won't have the finances to improve the team/squad

Because they'd be working with hateful, lying cunts at Boardroom level

Because some of our best players may leave the Club - Torres, Gerrard, Masch, Benayoun

Lets be honest LFC aren't an attractive option for Managers given the current circumstances surrounding the Club.

Rafa could be on his way and it's not a crime to discuss who may be best to replace him.
That's not the issue, Shanks. Of course it's reasonable to discuss this topic. I just don't like the tone of a lot of Craig's messages.

We neither have the money to offer better wages than other top managers earn (especially given the tax changes in this country vs the main European leagues) nor a decent transfer budget to offer. We also have owners who require the manager to fight the board to get anything.

Anyone who thinks that a/ Mourino or other top bosses would think it is an attractive job and/or b/ disregards how Mourinho ended his tenure at Chelsea as a lesson into how hard it is to manage a team when you are fighting the infrastructure to do the best for your team is misguided in my opinion.

i think he is just getting a bit carried away as he wants change

              we all want change.

              in the boardroom
              in results

we just differ on how best to achieve them.

though i dont like this no one can threaten maureen nonsense.

Re:Mourihno. I understand why some people can get carried away by him, he's sexy and is a player's manager, putting an arm over their shoulders, sweet talking them, bigging them up etc ... He's got the affections of some on here by the same process, albeit virtually. He's a sweet talker, the English press likes him because he plays their game.

Thing is, if I was a player and I needed a manager to 'big me up' or give me confidence, I'd be pretty much insulted by it. It shows that football players nowadays are somewhat thick and can't perform without having a 'nanny' to nurture them all the time. I don't think it's an unfair stereotype.

I don't think the Dalglish's and the Rush's needed someone telling them they were the best. They performed.

                  From the Daily Mail

Sportsmail revealed last week that Benitez was Inter’s preferred choice to succeed Jose Mourinho, who will join Real Madrid after Saturday’s Champions League final against Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu.
Their interest was driven by Branca’s admiration for Benitez’s coaching skills, but was in danger of cooling when it emerged that president Massimo Moratti was consulting Mourinho over who should take over.
Mourinho advised that they pursue Louis van Gaal of Bayern or Guus Hiddink, soon to be Turkey coach, but both may be reluctant to leave their current commitments.
Benitez also figures in AC Milan’s thoughts, as they seek a manager after sacking Leonardo.

Mourinho doesnt have a problem with Rafa?

Its amazing how despite not being highly thought of by so called 'knowledgable'LFC fans, that Rafa is being considered for the Inter job. Why would Mourinho not recommend Rafa? IMO its because he knows that with the budget that Inter could offer, Rafa could be a real threat.
                  In Klopp we trust.

I don't think we are limited to just those two imo.

why would jose recommend rafa? there are hundreds of managers out there and van gaal and hiddink are better managers than rafa so whay not recomend them over rafa. It has nothing to do with jose not thinking rafa any good or even thinking he is a threat.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Really? What has Hiddink or Van Gaal won which has eclipsed winning the CL, 2 la liga titles, 2 UEFA Cup and 1 FA Cup titles then?

well van gaal has won 2 la liga titles, 4 dutch titles, 1 german title, 1 CL title, 2 uefa titles and countless domestic cups.

Hiddink has won 6 dutch titles, FA cup, european cup, intercontinental cup and has countless experience at international level.

and hiddink has won something like 6 league titles, also an FA Cup and a CL title so the record is pretty much even.

And he has managed a bunch of international teams...

It is really hard to find managers with better record and more respected than those two.

It is just to much of a conspiracy thinking that Mourinho wouldn't recommend Rafa because he is threatened by him. Tbh. i don't think Mourinho could care less who Rafa or any other manager are in charge of.

There doesn't seem to be too much love going between Maureen and Van Gaal.

Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho has accused Bayern Munich rival Louis van Gaal of throwing dirt at him ahead of the Champions League final.

Yesterday, Mourinho responded to Van Gaal's claims that he is a defensive tactician.

He snapped: “In this Champions League I don't remember a game like Inter-Barcelona at San Siro. No one played the football that we played, attacking the champions of Europe so much and winning the semi-final there. No one attacked like us at Stamford Bridge. We played two games like no one else.

“To say things like Van Gaal has said is like throwing sand in your eyes.

“He is worried about the referee. I am worried about the Icelandic volcano. I would like to go to Madrid on Friday and instead we are going tomorrow. This is my only worry. I don't worry about the referee.

“The Italians haven't forgotten Bayern's game against Fiorentina in the same way that the English haven't forgotten Rafael's red card, but this is not my problem.”
