If Dalglish was a failure at newcastle for not achieving the club's ambitions, then so was Rafa at Liverpool, for the same reason.

As it goes, neither were failures.
I agree with you Craig. The team he took over at Newcastle was badly out of tune. The next season he lost Big Al 'Mary Poppins' Shearer for almost the entire year. He had to rebuild the reserves, sort out a leaking defense and try to appeal to a city of morons. Plus talking about expectations due to past glories and Newcastle in the same sentence is a joke. They've won **** all since 1969 where as we'd finished fourth and won the treble in the seasons preceeding Rafa's tenure.

To hold Kenny's career to account because he didn't win anything with Newcastle is ridiculous. Santa Claus, the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy couldn't win anything for Newcastle, even with all the magic pixie dust in la la land.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I've just heard on the radio that Robbie Fowler is backing Harry Redknapp for the job.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

this is an interesting poll considering hiddink has pretty much made it known he won't come.

Mourinho isn't on the list cos its not realistic to expect him to come, neither should Hiddink since he only took a job 2 weeks ago and in that time has also turned down the overtures of Inter Milan because of said job.

My biggest fear is if get someone like Hodgeson, then our best players will leave and we'll struggle to attract decent players, no matter how big our transfer budget is.

I am sure after the world cup he will be looking for a proper managerial club. And Spanish plaers are still the best in the world. We should look to retain our Spanish link, and look to someone who likes to keep the ball on the deck, and who is used to wroking in a politically hot environment, and gets through retaining his dignity.
That could be smart and wise move on our part. For that reason, I cannot see it happen..

I voted for Rijkaard but someone mentioned Didier Deschamps to me last night & tbh its a great fecking shout. Young, hungry, ambitious & a proven winner (Monaco & Marseilles). He's our best shot.

'ABH' is a start (Anyone But Hiddink). Not literally obviously (Fat Sam?! - ) but the man's a fraud. I'm worried seeing his name linked in the papers today. I'm not getting into this again (you can check my posting history on the subject) but we're well off without the man.

Here's out of left field: if we want to keep the Spanish link how about Martinez from Wigan. He seems to play reasonably attractive football with an unattractive team. Granted he won't win us the league but that's the calibre we're looking at now surely.
