Partly that or we are becoming a bit too romantic. Its the same with saying Stevie shouldnt leave Carra shouldnt be on the bench etcOriginally posted by dww View PostThat's true but I think the fact that so many are keen on the idea even after 10 years out of management indicates the standard of the other contenders does not appear to be very high.
Look at the best teams they dont rely on sentament like this.
This shows how we have slipped as a club.

I'm not sure they haven't at times - Keane at United in his last season there being the obvious example. I take your point though.Originally posted by Marsh View PostPartly that or we are becoming a bit too romantic. Its the same with saying Stevie shouldnt leave Carra shouldnt be on the bench etc

I don't think we are becoming too romantic in terms of the manager thing though. We have only been linked to Hodgson strongly and I'm not sure he would be a candidate for any other top jobs around Europe. People want to see an appointment that indicates we a/ want to keep our top players and b/ that we are aiming to win things not consolidate a UEFA place. There is an element of romance to the choice but it's as much a sign of a desire to have ambitious leadership which I don't think is top of the boards agenda."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I think at the moment the players and more importantly the fans could do with some "light at the end of the tunnel" hope - The King brings that in spades - he hasn't managed for a decade BUT he knows the players pretty ****ing well & he'll have the most amount of respect from all of them. Just imagine the roar on the KOP at the 1st home game next season!
Football is not such a complicated game that he couldn't get his head around how it's played these days!
That being said Kenny would probably offer too much in terms of power for Yanks to handle - Woy who to be fair has done a decent job at Fulham but through his 30 odd years of management has been pretty much a journeyman manager - dips in somewhere for a couple of seasons and keeps the seat warm for the next manager - sounds a touch harsh but that's how I see him.
If we do end up with Woy, I am sure we'll all be behind him but you have to wonder what players will be at his disposal for next season - to the Gerrard & Torres of this world it really is going to look like we're looking to cement a top mid-table position for a while until the place is sold.
As per usual worrying times at Anfield!

Ehh, it kind of depends on what else is on offer, he got second highest number of votes, so by your reckoning most of us dont want Hiddink either (70% didn't choose him). I think he would be a popular choice myself, especially if it's between him and Roy.Originally posted by Redspin View PostWell, according to the poll in this thread most of us don't want Kenny - which ties in with my discussions with mates.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

When you say Klinsmann has been asked his opinion - did you mean in an interview, or buy someone from the club?"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
