I think its clear he overachieved with fulham which for me more than offsets his failure at blackburn. he's spent longer in the league now and somehow gets a lot (in an attacking sense) out of seemingly sh1t footballers. give him some better footballers and lets see what he can do.
Lets not forget he started horrendously at Fulham so it wasnt all Lawrie Sanchez's fault. He's done well at one club and got sacked at another. Its frightening if thats now the criteria for a Liverpool manager.

He's ultra negative, doesnt use young players and im not sure he's a big enough name to keep our best players but we'll have to see on that one.

Outstanding? Christ, do me a favour, he's nowhere near it. He's decent and thats it. Your hatred of all things foreign is bizarre.

Jumping on people? Coming from a xenophobe?!
I haven't got a hatred of all things foreign ffs. I love travelling, I love foreign food, I love foreign women but I just really want a british appointment this time after have 10 years with foreign managers. I would like a different approach this time. Why is that so ****ing hard to understand?

To be fair to him he started badly at Fulham because Sanchez left him a **** squad with no organisation in defense. It took time for him to turn that round. I think reducing his career to two clubs is unfair and his first season at Blackburn was good.

All of the positives for Roy could be also attributed for Fat Sam FFS. This is a complete & utter ****ing joke.
                3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Theres a dig at the "foreigner" in every post you make and how anyone British is a god. Its hard to take that as any way other than xenophobic.

How the hell you've come to the conclusion he's an outstanding candidate I'll never know. He's never won a trophy outside Scandinavia and is in his 60s! He cant win away from home, has already been sacked from one club in this league, doesnt use young players and well.. outstanding he certainly isnt.

He's got some decent aspects to him but if the likes of him are now our ambition then its horrifying.

I just want the best Manager for the job, regardless of nationality.

I was gonna add "on field", but thought it too specific. I mean in the footballing areas alone, rather than the political.

By the way, if we lose our best players, I would class the calm more as "defeated."

It ain't over til the fat lady is photographed at Anfield with a scarf round their neck...

Not exactly inspiring news, but about all I've come to expect these days.

Part of me thinks we need to go **** it - if Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano want to go then they will go more or less regardless. We need to build a team around the core of players who want to be Liverpool players and Reina and Agger are a pretty good start.

We have some decent young players coming through and a manager who can make the most of them given the likely straightened financial situation is key. It's one area I'm not sure of Hodgson in. He seems to have a decent reputation with the likes of Smalling being spotted and developing under him but there seem to be very few young players in a Fulham team at any point during his reign.

In the end I will give whoever comes in a fair chance unless they are an odious prick like Alladyce. Whilst Roy is far from my first choice I don't think he is the disastrous choice that some seem keen to paint him as.
