no chance of fourth now IMO... 3 teams need to slip up in 7 games and I see no chance of that happening!

We are **** poor this season and even if we win the euro league it will have been a minor catastrophe this one!

But Rafa "guaranteed" we'd finish 4th, earlier this year......

The real ****ter now is we need the scum to do us a favour against Spurs and City, but if they do it takes 'em closer to the title which is unthinkable.

Controversally having watched the incident again for Utd's penalty I have to say it was one in my opinion, if you watch it at normal speed and from the angle the linesman and ref are looking at it he can't tell exactly where the pulling stopped.
Also the main consideration with penalties (again just my opinion) is the question - would we have wanted one given to us for the same situation? I'd hazard a guess that 99% of posters on here would want a penalty for an identical incident but find it easy to blame the ref.

Mascherano seems to have avoided all criticisism on here, he is the captain of his country, an experienced player yet tugs away at Valencia just after we have scored when Carra is coming across which would have forced Valencia to shoot at the near post.
It was also Mascherano that let Park run off him then got caught ball watching and attracted to the near post instead of trying to get back in and pick him up.
How many gilt edged chances did Utd miss?? none that I can remember, we missed 2 in the same move when Torres should have scored and from his mis hit Benayoun should have done better from 6 yards.

Surely no-one expected us to dominate possession and chances when playing at OT?? losing away to Man U isn't expected but it is explainable as they have been the dominant club for the past 20 years.
We went there after an important Thursday night game, they played the previous weekend so had a week to recover.
We need to win every game from now until the end of the season and see where we end up, today's defeat was our 10th in the PL this season, the other 9 have been the problem.

More than anyone..... more than anything I'm angry at Masher..... you could see the penalty coming for miles! Masher holding his arm outside of the area I was yelling at him to let him go. Any player worth his salt will run it into the area and dive and trust the ref will call it a penalty, the referees tend to, particularly to United at OT.

Masher's petulance in the past has caused him to be carded, as good as he is he can be very undisciplined, here was another example.

but our biggest culprit was our skipper who is in the team on reputation alone. he was ****ing awful again today and if he was anyone else (bar lucas, kuyt and insua) he wouldnt be in the side.

its getting harder and harder coming up with excuses for gerrards poor form.

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking our great Talisman has gone off the boil lately.

Yesterday he was a passenger, he let the game go by him, I know we expect too much from him sometimes but his form is terrible at the moment and it makes me think that he may actually be mortal after all.

If it's due to an injury, a lack of motivation due to Rafa's methods or maybe just a dip in form then he should be rested or rotated whatever it's called nowdays.

When Masherano was constantly berating the referee after the penalty where was the captain who should have been pulling him back in case he got his marching orders like before.

I'm not blaming Gerrard alone for our loss but his contributions lately aren't what they should be.

We have to learn to manage our expectations, just maybe we aren't the force we thought we are. I know he is shopping at Lidl and not Harrods so we are limited to what we can buy. This part I accept because of the restraints put on him by the Coco brothers in charge. What I just can not accept is the negative tactics week in week out, it must demoralise the players as much as the fans.

Im sick and tired of watching LFC set up to not lose a game rather than try and win it. I cant wait for this season to be over and the squad to be culled. If rafa is going to stay he better ****ing sort it out and get rid of the ****. But this season is a huge failure and that is only down to rafa IMO.

Win Europa this season and use it next season to give the kids a game- just concentrate on league next year

I'll say it again .........there comes a time when players give up when they have had enough of the current management.......wrong ? yes ....but more than likely......i am sure if a new manager came in there would be a huge upturn in performances and results

I'd take 8th if Utd failed to win the league. Utd winning their 19th league and most probably their 4th CL leaves us ****ed.

I'd take CL qualification right now, even if it meant handing Utd the title. We can't be stuck in the past forever and if we're ever good enough again then we'll take back the record.

Realistically we're looking at Europa next season and in the current circumstances, with little or no improvement to the squad.

Oh and Insua needs a break. I've said it several times but ffs put Agger out there and give the lad a breather. Playing every single game gives him no chance to make the physical improvements he needs.

It's a tough one, but even if we said let's take missing out on the CL to stop them winning it, it'd only be delaying the inevitable...and damaging us badly in the process.
