    Great performance and result

Our defending as a team was superb tonight and even when they had the lion's share of possession in the first 25 minutes they barely created a chance. Over the two legs they only managed to score from dead ball situations, against a very good Benfica side that's pretty good going.

Kuyt, Masch and Lucas set the tone and with Gerrard and Torres threatening we always looked likely to create chances. Rafa got the tactics spot on and from a solid base we played some great football at the right times and made the most of our opportunities. If we play like that until the end of the season we might yet snatch 4th.

It's games like tonight that makes you realise that on form our first XI are a match for anyone it's just a pity they're never all ****ing fit. Even tonight we were missing Babel, Insua, Maxi, Aurelio, Skrtel, Kelly and Riera. Our squad just simply isnt strong enough to challenge on all fronts when we inevitably sustain injuries to a few key players

Performances like that from Lucas and Kuyt.. Get consistent and we'll have a decent side.. Gerrard still breezing through the game though IMO

A good win against a very good side attacking wise. A bit embarrassed about their play-acting, and their defense was ****, as most are coming up against Nando and Gerrard. Great to still be in Europe when all other top four teams are out, go on and win this now!!

I really like that Aguero is suspended as we face Atletico in Spain first, that match will be crucial for them if they want to beat us, as we really seem to have found form at home.

I do hope their keeper is ok. He looked totally out of it when he came off.

She's good but she's nothing on Bowie mate. Different class.

but seriously I've recenlty got into my Bowie. I'd put him up there with Lennon and Hendrix. Amazing.

I lived in a shared house for about six months a few years ago with some people who were about 20 years younger than me. We used to play CDs in the kitchen and Hunky Dory went down quite well - mainly because it had Life on Mars on there!

Up the hill backawards is the current favourite . I'm just getting into Bowie so I'm not going to pretend I'm a master on him but I heard he spent some time in prison with Johnny Cash and taught him how to play Scary Monsters while they were there which is pretty much the coolest story ever

I must admit I haven't heard that story, but it could be true!

Blackout is my all time favourite Bowie song and Fantastic Voyage ain't too bad either. We might get banned for digressing?
