OK the counter argument is it could destro confidence but if someone said to kelly its ok to **** up as quite frankly if we put degen in he will anyway, they might be ok
I kind of agree with you for a start.

I think that without his injuries Kelly would have featured a lot more and probably appeared in 10-15 games.
I personally think he has a real chance, his debut against Lyon was excellent and they reached the semi final. He can play either full back and started as a centre half so the similarties with a young Carra are there
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

        **** it.

Im going to go against everything I believe and say that I think Rafa should be given another season at the club.

Pretty much most of my posts have been anti rafa and over the last season its reached epic proportions but I've changed my mind.

There are a couple of big reasons for this.

        1. He has only been able to spend big once (when he signed torres, masher, babel, yossi etc) and even that season his net spend was on £34m or something. That's one Rio Ferdinand.

        2. The youth set up will deliver big in the future and he has created all of that with the appointment of Rodolfo Burrell. We need to give rodolfo and his colleagues time to get this off the ground. in 3 seasons Im confident we will have probably 6 or 7 youth team players in the first team squad and contributing to first team success (not just making up our euro numbers)

Rafa's done this job with one had tied behind his back and you just cant work like that. Last night our subs were el zhar, pacheco and for a semi final of a major european tournament its not good enough.

Give Rafa money, let him do his job and then judge him. I will not deviate from this until at least xmas 2010.

Put everything aside he does deserve one more crack. Question is if he will have any money to spend.

I think I agree, I would not cry if he went to Juve, and I think that's entirely possible and understandable if he did go. But considering that everytthing went wrong and he has limited support from his bosses I think this was never going to be a good season.
              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

if not then we may have to sacrifice any of torres / gerrard / mascherano and then rebuild from there.

But if we go into the new season with the same team, we;ll be lucky to finish top half.

                  Hopefully we don't go there.

If that is the way we will raise funds for new purchases we can settle for bottom half of table even before the season starts.

We have to keep the skeleton of team (Pepe, Torres, Masch, Stevie, Aqua man, Aggar, GL, Carra) and get some quality players to truly challange for title next year.

                  Probably pipedream but still..

So you're a contrary so-and-so then - while everyone else likes him you slag him, once everyone else starts to agree, you switch!

I like it - keeps the forum entertaining!

I agree though for what it's worth. Can't think of anyone bar Mourinho that I'd be entirely happy to see coming in, so on those grounds alone I'd give him one more chance to find out whether this season was a blip or the continuing decline from last year's peak...

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It depends on injuries IMO for example if we could play our first 11 all season, we could make top 4 comfortably. That isn't going to happen so it depends on where we get injuries and for how long, as we could cope with injuries if they occur in certain positions but less well in others...

The Question is, does he deserve one more season if the massive funds are not forthcoming and he still has to manage with say a maxiumun nett spend of 15m?

the common consensus seems to be that Rafa deserves to be given the opportunity to prove himself with big money.

What if that big money is not available. Is he still the guy then to be given another opportunity?

You mention that over the next few years youth will start to feature, but should he be given more than one year?

                              Just a question.
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

try looking at this the 'other' way round.

Without money would rafa want to stay for another year ?
